Dark red with some fading at the rim. Blackberries on the nose. More dark-fruited than most Merry Edwards Pinots. Black cherry, blackberry, raspberry. Fine tannins, excellent acidity, perhaps a touch of heat (14.4% ABV). Finishes long and fruity, candied cherries. Becomes redder fruited and sweeter with air. This has probably peaked and is starting downhill, but still quite nice. I'd drink these over the next 2 years.

Drink up, just past peak !! Drank with friends at dinner and slightly disappointed, did not show as well as tasting note of 9 months ago. Last bottle of the vintage in my cellar.

In a great spot, this wine is tasting extremely good right now !! The cork was nearly perfect after a decade in the bottle. This is a balanced Pinot Noir that I consumed over two days. Deep ruby color with no oxidation, clarity medium. Aromas of pomegranate and carmel, flavors of sweet cranberry, cherry, rhubarb, and forest floor with a pleasant medium to long finish. Popped and poured, this wine really benefited from gentle oxygen since it was much more …

Brooding black cherry. Hints of clove and cardamom. Absolutely delicious. Amazing that it's 11 years post vintage. Long finish. Medium-full bodied. Acidity is starting to really die out.

Pinot on Steroids? Poured a glass and audouzed one hour 10 years on still a big wine with lots of structure. The nose is cool, clean and pure. Freshness, Like walking through ripe berry brambles on a sunny, cool, Spring day. Dark blue and red berries, green leafy herbals. Acidity is judged just right and there is good concentration of fruit. Dark blue and red berry fruits on the palate, with under tone of meaty gaminess. Because of the remaining …

Beautifully developed mature CA pinot. Round tannins deep red and purple fruit, spice, flowers. Good balance. I have been disappointed with some other aged bottles of ME Klopp recently, but this was really great. I have one more and will save another year.

The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like strawberry jam, cherry, flint, light toast, stoniness, honeysuckle and rose. It tastes like strawberry jam, cherry, flint, dust, stoniness, rose and honeysuckle. The body is medium. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

Nice nose, lavender, dusty ripe red berry. Tastes of bright strawberries and cranberry, mineral finish. Not over the hill, still in its prime.

Tasted at Pinot Forum highlighting back vintages of RRV. Medium plus nose, violets, cinnamon, dark cherry, big profile with medium tannins, deep layers, could actually use more time. One of the treats of the day.

Decnated 2 hours. This wine has the best of both old world and new world, elegance and power; masculine style. The nose just leaps out of the glass with a sexy blend of cherry fruit and baking spices. Thick rich palate of cherry and apple fruit, baking spices, smokeyness, oak and a bit white pepper. Beautiful lengthy finish.

lush perfectly ripe velvety mixed dark berry, cocoa powder and nutmeg; full mid palate with just enough fine acidity; well integrating oak; hint of bitterness on the finish (in a good way). One of the better CA pinots that i have tasted this year and a perfect match with the BBQ lamb. Just as good on day 2.

Needs about an hour of air time and it is pure bliss IMO. Ripe raspberry/cherry with a long finish. Very tasty effort.

Dark rich fruits with a hint of cocoa on the nose. Beautiful deep purple color. Strong notes of cherry added on the palate. Nicely balanced, good acidity. This is a luscious, mouth-watering wine. Wish I had more than one additional bottle in the collection.

Medium red color. Aroma: leafy and cherry, with oak spice. On arrival, a silky texture, with acidity full resolved. Develops moderate depth of flavor, mostly cherry and tobacco. Medium finish. A fine match to Thanksgiving day roast turkey, sage-thyme gravy, roasted root vegetable medley, collards stewed with leeks. grits with white cheddar and green chiles, and orange-cranberry-raspberry compote. Bottle #2 of two.

This was just amazing. Aftertaste was perfect, very oaky on the nose and a bit floral on the palette. Neutral flavour that paired great with my Cornish hen with bacon, forest mushrooms and creamed grits! Definitely need to buy a few more bottles of this one.

Lovely, fresh juicy Sonoma pinot. Nose is inviting with red raspberries and cherries. Smooth mouth feel, that bursts with fresh light red fruit. A delightful taste! Moderate finish of red raspberries, cherries, and a touch of tannin.

One of my favorite wines of the entire year - which is saying something because I had it with smoked turkey on Christmas night. Spicy aroma and first taste on the tongue. Yet the body is fresh and fruity with a very smooth finish for a Pinot. I will be trying to find more.

This wine was essentially popped and poured, then consumed over the ensuing two hours. It shows a deep ruby/red robe, with a moderately intense nose of raspberry, black cherry, cola and clove aromas. Full-bodied on the palate, with medium acidity, medium sweet tannins, well-integrated alcohol (listed as 14.3%) and flavors in line with the nose. The middle palate is solid and the medium-to-long finish is smooth. Merry Edwards's vineyard-designated wines (especially Klopp) simply need time. I suspect that this wine …

Could not wait... My intention was to check back on this in about a year... I guess I need to get more bottles out of storage. Again, it's better than my first couple of bottles, but nothing to write home about.

Not our favorite... There was a strong after taste... bitter and oaky... I'm sure it was well crafted, however not for us. We were really surprised by this - normally we love Merry Edwards' wines. We will let the remaining bottles sit for a while.

Hold this wine or decant for a long time. The fruit is tight and there's plenty of acidity. A couple of years down will only help this bottle.
