Spicey chewy fruit with layers of plums, blackberries and currants. Finishes with some earth and green pepper.

Can't believe how woody this still is. But it's somehow still delicious. I always thought the Kalen's would be the more ageworthy of the Kent Syrahs, but these have been doing quite well also.

Splash decanted and allowed to sit for a half hour. Should have opened earlier in the evening as it really hit stride at the two hour mark. Showed a bit of heat and harsh acid during the early stage. Mellowed out from there to a smooth fruit-focused Syrah. Might gain a bit from additional cellaring, but quite nice with extended air.

Blackberry and spice, still bright and lively with a peppery edge. Think this may be a bit shut down at present. It came into its own after a few hours with air, so I would suggest a decant and then serving. The pepper really comes out then, and it puts on some bacon fat notes and heft in the mid palate.
