Excellent, slow ox 5 and a half hours, upon tasting, first glass was rich and round with plush velvety fruit. Lots of olive and mint. Very young but the long air time helped. Ideally, wait another 10 + years if you can

Deep red with some browning on the edges. Crushed wild red berries with a lot herbs de Provence showing on nose and on the palate. Great mouthfeel with lots of umami and a fresh finish. Tannins completely integrated. Well worth the cellaring and I think now into the next few years are a good place for this.

Really exceptional bottle, double decanted a couple hours before serving. Nose of leather, game, anise, lavender, soy sauce, and black tea, but sort of has that thing where it shows something different every time you smell it. Iron, floral notes, beef jerky, and dark berries on the palate with dark coffee-like tannins and a saline finish. Delicious, complete, complex, and has me wishing I had more Tempier in my cellar.

Finale saalivante, …

This is a great iteration of a great wine. It’s no secret that I’m a fan of tempier, but the fanfare for this wine at a full table have me feeling affirmed. The only Tempier single vineyard cuvée I would consider drinking now, this had approachable tannins, notable reduction, dark fruit, and quintessential Bandol game. Delicious.

Nice wine, but Migoua, especially from 2016, should be more. Dark fruits, spice, smooth texture. Still quite primary. Cellared since original release.

Mourvèdre, double-blind (Skype) : Wine 5 of 5: Reserved nose. Plum, red fruit, herbaceous notes, rosemary, thyme, spices, light ethereal and light balsamic notes, with medium-level acidity, fine, partly resolved and well-integrated tannin, and superb length. Well-structured and very persistent, with good concentration. Consistent on days two and three; red fruit driven and herbaceous, with spice and liquorice notes, and a lightly creamy texture. The most structured and concentrated of the five wines even if I preferred the Saronsberg Mourvèdre …

Very nicely in balance, this third bottle. The mourvedre flowered nicely in the Migoua cuvee. As always led by shitake muahroom broth scents and shitake flavors on the palate, blended into dark cherry- infused old oak, forest scents and a bit of barnyard funk. Actually nice night one from Coravin. Mourvedre taste- off Night 2: post- Coravin comparison with rhe Barral Faugeres Valiniere. The latter held up better, surprising given the more subtle Tempier approach Time to drink thesein the …

From magnum. A slightly weird explosive thing happened when I pulled the cork on this: some dissolved CO2 perhaps? The wine seems unaffected. This is just classic mature Tempier. Herbs, black fruit, olives, leather on the nose. Sweet fruit, more herbs on the palate. Rich but elegant, nice balance. Delicious, and such an appetising food wine.

Très beau vin d'un producteur phare dans cette appellation. Super savoureux , frais et franc de gout. Des cerises, des épices et un peu d'herbes. Les tannins sont charnus et bien enrobés. Assez long en finale, le tout est en parfait équilibre. EXCELLENT!

Decanted and poured, this wine has a fair amount of sediment at this point. This bottle gave an outstanding showing with a wonderful balance of maturing and youthful notes on the bouquet and palate. The wine gives a lengthy finish with nicely integrated and subtle tannins at this stage. This is at or around its peak. Purchased on release and imported by Kermit Lynch.

Poured into a decanter several hours prior to service. No formal notes but this was a delicious pairing with traditional cassoulet. Dark bramble fruits, mushrooms, white pepper, earth. The structure is unrelenting and this La Migoua almost comes across young at the legal age of 18. It remains a deep, mysterious and intellectual wine. Drink now with a good amount of air, some great food and plenty of time to ponder. Well cellared examples will continue to drink well past …

"5/15/2021 - SOTTO325 favorite WROTE:90 Points At best, a disappointing showing in need of another five years to flower. At worst, an off vintage that does not deliver the soulful deep earthy character that this wine can deliver. Tasted just after the 04 classique. This much more elegant and refined, with lovely stone-fruit aromas alongside lifted fresh herb and tobacco aromas and a redder fruit profile on the palate. Like the classique it's delicious. Again, 2004 is a very good vintage chez Tempier. My last note on this wine said the fruit was fading a bit compared to the structure: I don't really get that sense today although I will drink up my remaining bottles of this (the …

Still very young although not tannic. High acidity, and a bit of raisin flavor (think amarone, but not as heavy bodied). This was a good wine but it did struggle against the competition in a blind lineup that featured 1996 SQN syrah and 2011 Cayuse Cailloux Syrah.

Decanted 6 hrs and served with pan seared houllmi and NY Steak on top of a bed of back lentils and sauted sweet peppers, a little oregano and basil on top, great pairing. Read somewhere that the Migoua is a little ‘softer’ when compared to the Tourtine, less moudevre etc. Ha! Tasted together with the same wine in the 2015 vintage, as well 2015 and 2016 "standard" Tempier Bandol. The darkest and youngest wine in the mini-tasting. Quite closed on the nose, not giving much apart from some underbrush, raw meat, and some dark berries. Full bodied, very tannic, high acidity. Not giving much in the mouth neither, just a brutal block of wine with some clear mineral/iron tones. This must be too young. Keep for at lest five years before …

Just a touch lighter body than the base Bandol or Tourtine, but there is nevertheless beautiful, quite dark fruit, with just a slightly more feminine touch from the lower Mourvedre percentage, blackberry with a good dose of raspberry, great acidity, some moderate fine chalky tannins.

The nose is a lovely blend of raspberry, cherry and a lovely combination of spice and floral notes. Very nice nose. The color is dark ruby, translucent. The initial experience with the wine is outstanding. it is quite fresh on the tongue, with strong dark fruit and leather, followed by light tannins. The finish is very nice, although with a hint of bite that was a bit unexpected.

2016 Domain Tempier Reds (Dig Wines, San Francisco) : Deeper color than the normale. Bigger than the regular cuvée, slightly more ripe with a blueberry undertone and much more structure. Really excellent, not as round and lush as Migoua can be in some vintages. Give this one at least 6 to 8 years to blossom.

Not going to rate because I think my bottle may have been flawed, judging by other recent reviewers. I had every expectation I could hold this wine and forget about it and it would still be fine years later. Well, I opened for some Lamb on Christmas Eve dinner and it was very disappointing. I had many of these over the years, to way back in their youth. I opened this one and immediately noticed a very powerful funky smell. …

This is a beautiful wine that caused me to take a step back and remember why I love wine. Captivating aromas of flowers, garrigue, olive, blackberry, and leather. Very complex. Good freshness on the palate, and prominent tannins on the finish. I could see this wine evolving into something even more delicious over 3-5 years.

Color: deep/dark ruby core -> medium ruby rim with a touch of bricking starting to appear. Masculine bouquet of leather, earth, barnyard and blackberries. Earthy, iron palate showing great depth of dark fruit. Still some tannins to resolve so I think this has plenty of time. Finish a bit coarse to my mind but good length. Like it a lot but it could show more complexity IMO.
