Dark purple red, very nice, dense nose, which was smoky, juniper-spicy, and slightly greasy. Still quite compact and young on the palate with a pronounced acidity that could perhaps be integrated a little better. A very nice wine with potential for development.

German Spätburgunder 10 Years after : Tastes German: strawberry, raspberry, high acidity, smoky, meaty. All in all, clearly identifiable as a Spätburgunder, but a really great one! I see some upside potential. (92-95)

Second bottle after a flawed one. Clean cork this time and overall clearly different to the first bottle. Smooth notes of forest berries, red cherry, licorice, hibiscus, forest soil, new leather and burned wood. Good structure and fruit profile with however still quite present oak. Very delicious nonetheless and in a good spot now.

Mouldy cork under the capsule, which is not necessary an issue. The wine then however felt as it was 30+ years old and has lost all flavour and life.

Deep purple in colour with ruby highlights. Shows intense aromas of black cherry and damson plum along with earthy undertones and meaty accents. Almost sweet in its fruit profile but well lifted by energizing acidity. Ready to drink but will definitely age for the better.

Very lovely expression of Pinot. Plenty of elegant and juicy cherry and a hint of strawberry. It has started to show a little age with hints of mushrooms and wet forest floor. There is a slight touch of oak but not in a disturbing way. Very lovely and starting to show some complexity. Has a touch of bitterness in the aftertaste.

Grosse Gewächse Presentation (Conservatorium Hotel, Amsterdam, NL) : Retailer tasting, brief note. Quite sweet oak, fresh and juicy palate, but the finish is very toasty. A bit monolithic.

From magnum. Double decanted and consumed over 2 hours. Ready to go and lovely Pinot for "German" standards. A bit on the typical bitter side as the German Pinots tend to be, but some generous fruit mixed in there. For my taste I still prefer red Burgs from Burgundy.
