Dark color, spicy nose. Good balanced oak, tannin, and acidity. Intrigued after one glass at a banquet.

Blackfruit, not so much smokey. At this price, again, this is a surprisingly good example of Cabernet from SA.

Un CS mou, pas de colonne vertébrale. Peu tannique. Je n'ai pas reconnu le CS. Pas mauvais, pas de défaut majeur. RQP **

This is my first South African cab sav, so I'm new to its characteristics. This wine begged for decanting, it was very bitter and harsh on opening. After an hour it settled down to where it was drinkable. Highly acidic mouthfeel with a hint of ?sausage? on the palate. Finish is mildly tannic and a bit uneventful. I'm not a big fan of this one and, as Gary V would say, I'd give it a major pass.

again, great QPR at a solid $8.99. green capsicum and that (albeit softer than most) s. african roasty note on the nose. palate hinges more on the roasty, but again the balance here is just fine and that's what sets this wine apart at this price. nice food friendly acid profile.

Better on day 3. Less grilled green pepper, lighter palate.

Medicinal nose of black raspberry & fennel with stalky, earthy notes. Palate balanced with sufficient acids for tannins. Somewhat angular. Overall a bit too green for my liking, but nice for the price.

Staff Tasting: South Africa (Waterford Wines Milwaukee) : quite a bit more going on than the $8.99 suggests. Big raspberry fruit. light floral in the nose. Lively acid and so easy. green notes too. almost nacho cheesy in it's display of jalapeno. roasty, stemmy and some green pepper. after 5 hours this starts to take a turn for the meaty.

bell peppers and blackberries on the nose, sweet and spicy palate, with dark fruit and chocolate, low acid, modest tannins, and South African character, had with chicken mozzarella pasta, slight mismatch, but the wine is good for the price

Definately South Africa on the nose with hints of green. Fairly clean otherwise. Drinkable. Good at $8.99
