Sundance Steakhouse for WBW birthday. Alongside 22 Clos de Papes. Decanted for about a 1/2 hour while we contemplated the 22 CdP. Served at perfect temp. This wine was all sorts of wow. Dark, concentrated, young, amazing. Although this was young, it was surprisingly approachable. If I saw wine in colors, this was all purple. Although young and gushing with dark fruits, there’s dark herbaceous notes, with a touch of menthol. There's a fragrant butterscotch with maybe even a bit of orange creamsicle. The palate showed similarly with macerated, creamy fruits. Dark purple and black fruits just crushed in your fist. This had this constant expansive wave of flavors like those Russian nesting …

more primary driven than Vine Hill Ranch. more heady, you can get alcohol on the nose a la Screaming Eagle. in contrast to the nose (which is more red), dark cherries, plums take a front row seat. chalky, grippy tannins, this is more comparable to Scarecrow in terms of size, just not as sweet. still quite savoury, good salinity throughout the palate. but more tight than the rest, needs time for tannins to resolve. long, salty finish.
