Tasted blind. Very intense. Full on with tannins, fruit, acidity and Alc. Too much for my palate. Score higher if you like traditional Barolo.

Coravin fun - Vietti (My place, Burwood) : From Coravin. Earthy, leathery, a little plummy, savoury spice, a sense of concentration; touches of beef extract. And that concentration is on the palate as well. Medium plus intensity acidity and tannins; the latter drying, grippy, grainy, plummy fruit, leather, slight mushroom umami notes, dried citrus peel, ridiculously long. Woof.

Upon opening, stunning, deep, rich aromatics, really bassy. The palette is all acid and tannin. After two hours the wine fleshed out, showing classic Barolo flavors. Was excellent with Bolognese. Coravin fun - Vietti (My place, Kent Street) : From Coravin. Savoury, spicy, dried flowers, meaty underpin, a little plum and cherry, touch of almost clove and biscuit. With time the fruit takes precedence. Medium plus intensity acidity, fruit more savoury on the palate. An iron/blood note also present. Tannins are drying, persistent but more in support. Lovely.

(Mostly) Barolo night (Frank's place in Matraville) : From Coravin. Very slightly oxidised, caramel, sweet spice, ripe cherry and plum, pot pourri; quite a polished note. Medium plus intensity acidity, cherry, plum, alcohol warmth, drying flour textured tannins drag at the palate. The alcohol lends a spicy note to the finish (which is very long). Hmm.

From Coravin. Aromas of fruit tea, earth, leather, spice - a touch of clove, plum over cherry. Medium plus intensity acidity, that fruit tea quality translates to the palate. Tannins are present but quite softly engaging rather than overwrought. Hmm.

Very nice Barolo getting approachable here. Smooth tannins and very typical taste of roses tar and earthiness.

Surprisingly open and also slightly advanced in color. Inviting notes of dark plum, some red berries, but also dried fruits, figs, some dried flowers, some tar, cloves and tobacco. It‘s pretty full-bodied but with nice medium-high acidity adding balance and freshness, there is also medium-high tannin that is silky but adding good structure. Very good length. This is a really nicely balanced Barolo that is pretty much ready to go but will also age well for another 5-10 years.

Enjoyed at a tasting at Meritage in Encinitas. Wow! This is impressive, strawberry mint black tea. Lots of structure, tannins, and hiding dark fruit but that first descriptor is what popped into my head. Obviously better down the road but truly excellent now.
