Similar to previous note. Still fruit-dominated but promising more. 12.8% is somewhat surprising for this lack of development. Enjoy a fresh, fruity Pinot now of hold for a few years. Day two: Smokey, meaty, earthy while retaining acidity and a long finish. Hold this for five years.

Nose of intense fresh red cherries, black currants, currant leaf, spice, leather and cedar. The palate absolutely bursts with fruit. Spice, pepper, leather, umami run seamlessly through a long finish with fine tannins and an acidic sheen. This will gain tertiary notes, but the full spectrum is on display now.

Great pinot, deep Ruby, cherry, chocolate and forest nose, warm cassis taste and good finish, very flexible which will work with hearty fare and cheese

Cherry, delicate, refined and complex. Certainly one of the most Burgundian US Pinot noirs I’ve had. Delicious.

Medium ruby red in the glass. Offers aromatics of red berry fruit, cola, mushrooms and some charred wood. A bit of heat present on the nose as well. Medium-bodied, a bit thin in the middle. Soft tannins and medium acidity. Medium finish as well. Nothing really excites you about this wine, even at an entry level price point. There are better WVs out there for sure.

First Ken Wright for me. This was good, but I wasn't particularly wowed by it in light of the supposed quality of this vintage. Don't get me wrong, it's a decent QPR especially for the sub-$20 price I paid; Drank it over 3 days, with day 2 being the most open. Though it was still hard to get much more than usual fruit forward style of Willamette. Maybe more time in the cellar for my remaining 2 bottles will do …

One of my favorite everyday Pinots. Solid density to the red and blue fruit, with a hint of earth that adds complexity. Great acidity, pairs with many dishes. Crowd pleaser.

Eye: light garnet color. Nose: slight barnyard upon first opening but breathed away, plums, floral. Palate: nice red fruit, crisp, well balanced, medium body surprising based on light color in the glass, medium finish.

Tasted at the winery. This is a blend from several pinot noir blocks in the Willamette Valley. Clear bright cherry colour. Good fruit on the nose and palate, cherries, canned strawberries, chocolate, coffee, savoury.

This was an extraordinary wine. Paper filtered and decanted yielding a lovely garnet liquor and leaving behind some large chunky black debris and a fine sand of crystals at the bottom of the filter. The aromas of ripe red and blue fruit were enticing and the explosive flavors of raspberry, cherry, blueberries, and wonderfully smooth and sweet finish were intoxicating and led us down the path of over-consumption and exhaustion. Sadly, we were unable to finish the last glass each …

Doesn't live up to the hype. Initially fairly muted nose, dusty red fruits. Gradually opened up a bit but never compelljng. Hot on the palate and dominated by over-ripe red fruit.

I'm with the group of tasters that don't like this at all. Stewed, pruney fruit, coconut and vanilla notes. Incredibly boozy and sweet. This isn't Pinot at all to me. The Ken Wright see-saw continues, alternating between tasty and undrinkable.

16th Annual Lyon 10 Year Retrospective (Same Old Place) : So 3 out of four Ken Wrights in this tasting came out ok with their "synth a corks", this one didn't. Not TCA but a bit pruney/ oxidized. Black fruit, plum, and some acidity. You'd drink it if you were stuck w/o back up. We were not stuck...

Hard to rate this one, as it seems very atypical for a Pinot. Very dark garnet in color, but medium bodied on the palate. The flavor profile is more meaty and savory than the red berry and spice typical of most Pinots. Almost like a like a lighter bodied Syrah. I like it, but I'm not even sure I would have identified it as a Pinot and I usually find that grape very distinctive.

Wow, was this a disappointment! A$65 bottle with a synthetic cork that is not nearly as good as a $20 Pinot I'm trying tonight. Lacking depth, and complexity/ I poured off half a bottle into a half bottle with a screw cap so I could try the second night and on night two it was worse, like red wine cool-aid (little acidity, tannin, or much of anything). I'm speechless, and that doesn't happen very often.

Had two halfs, both off. Pruney, tomatoes, not looming forward to the othe EIGHT bottles. Total dissapointment. I'm a KW old school fan, but this is not good. Synthetic corks should leave this dependent on the wine making and some severe flaws on this bottle. I have tons of '06 KW, good grief.

2009 International Pinot Noir Celebration: Pasport to Pinot (McMinnville, Oregon) : Heavy stewed blackberries appear on the nose as well as a vegetable note. Maybe a little veggies were in the fruit stew? The wine delivers some enjoyable minerality right out of the gate and some nice tannins evolve during the course of the tasting. There's a bit of heat on it, but it doesn't hurt it much. Some nice blackberry flavors roll in nicely later on the palate.

2009 International Pinot Noir Celebration (IPNC) Passport to Pinot (McMinnville, OR) : Quite a bit of alcohol coming through on the nose, which I'm not digging so much. There is also this heavy flint thing, which is nice. The alcohol dominates here, though. The mid-palate isn't too bad, with nice minerality and acid, but a bit pedestrian. The finish is actually quite nice and fruity. The alcohol is not in the way on the finish, but the nose is a …

Willamette, Damn It!: Pinot Shoot-Out (Waterford Wine Co. Tasting Room) : Nice earth on the nose. Full cherries and baking spices. Stayed consistent for the second taste. Fairly full bodied and very smooth. Good earthiness. Really long finish of baked cherries. Also a nice tannic touch on the finish. Needs time, but very good now.
