Drink or Hold

This fantastic barolo was typically tight upon opening. After decanting 6-7 hours it expressed bright fruit balanced by tannins and acid. Light in color but still a full bodied wine. Worked well with ribeye steak w/ carmelized onions. A real treat.

This is a strange Barolo. It is dominated by spice and funk on the palate. No hint of the typical floral notes anywhere.

Retasted 3/15/18: Not much change from note below. Still closed and unyielding with acidity overplaying sparse fruit, followed by typical Barolo tannins. Let this one sit for a while to see if it softens up and lets the fruit come thru. 2/8/2017: Relatively light in color and certainly closed in nose and taste in its early entry.
