(16,5/20) Rich and super balanced VDP Ortswein Riesling. Beautiful minerality. This actually a declassified Goldloch and Burgberg Grosse Gewachs blend. Aged for 6-8 months in old 2400l German oak vats. Medium+ intense aromas of apple blossom, red apple, white grapefruit, lime, pineapple, tonic, white pepper, wet stone, flint, sea salt, almond, honey. Dry wine, high acidity, medium body, pronounced flavour intensity, long finish. 12% ABV - Winemaker tasting @ Genussgarten, Bingen am Rhein

It presents a bright straw yellow color to the eye. On the nose, there are intense aromas of yellow fruit and ripe white fruit, including apple and peach, floral notes of wildflowers and citrus, including lemon zest, ending with light spicy hints and a slight mineral touch of wet rock and graphite. Beautiful fruit in the nose of citrus and maybe ripe green apple petrol and lots of floral notes. The palate is bright and structured to lift and carry rich citrus fruits. Delicious.

Walk around tasting, so just short notes. : Village wine. Juicy and tasty, a bit floral, minerals, good acidity and a pleasant touch of sweetness.

Tasted at the winery along with a large portion of the 2021 collection (except the GGs). Thomas was very friendly and provided a very good overview of the wines and differences in their different vineyards. The wines all had a fairly prominent sponti touch, which did however make evaluating at such an early time a little difficult. Tasted next to the Goldstuck. More intense than the entry level wines, with good substance. Very much in the mineral/green/white side of things. …

Lime, almond, over-ripe peach, petrol and short finish.

Impressive nose with tropical fruit and stones with smoke. On the palate also primary tropical fruit (maracuja, peach, sweet grapefruit) with shale rock notes, mouthfilling acidity, quite compexe with depth. In the aftertaste short fruity, then comes minerality, stones, again smoke with salt and that last pretty long. This is clearly GG-level. Impressive wine!
