Nice tawny port. Still vibrant and in good condition. Berries and stewed fruits

Solid port-style wine. Sweet with rich fruit. This is not a complex port but it is easy drinking. It does not seem like a wine that will become more complex with age.

Nice port, but a little hot for my tastes.

Very impressed by this wine. Real Port character. Sweet with a long finish and a touch of complexity. No, it's not Quinta de Noval or Taylor Fladgate. No, you won't confuse it with any good vintage or late bottled Pory. But, it stands up to many more expensive Tawney and Ruby versions of the wine. Also, at the $10 a bottle that it cost me, the QPR is amazing.

Much better than my last taste, this has benefitted from some cellar time, and was really even better after being opened two days and recorked in the fridge. Now it seemed much truer to a port wine, and much more in balance.

I agree 100% with richardhod. This is good from a CA perspective which uses the right grapes. But a bit sweet...

Good for a CA port, and at least uses the right grapes. Still a bit sweet for the depth, as in all CA ports, but it's a decent drink.

Drank over about a year or more. Even pretty good after all that time.

Medium red. Lots of sweet red fruit, figs and earth. Nice resolved Port like flavours and a decent sweet finish. Seemed a lot like vintage port to me a really good ringer.

Bill's Monthly Lunch - March 2012 (Vancouver, BC) : Tasted blind – medium red colour, browning throughout. Sweet and warm nose with notes of Christmas cake and sweet red fruit. Sweet flavours of dried fruits, brown sugar and Christmas cake. This was very port-like. Decant acidity and smooth finish. Excellent.

A warming luscious mouthfull of sweet dark berries, lightly spiced and with a long dark chocolate finish.

Tasted at Wine Riot NYC 2011 at Skylight One Hanson in Brooklyn. Cali-style Port wine. Rich, sweet chocolate, dark berry fruit, raisin & clove. Smooth tannins, good mix of acidity & velvety lingering finish.

Tried at my 5/12/11 wine tasting. Looking back, it was very good. Would not hold it, drink now.

Colour - orangey red, brickish; some sediment; clearly aged in bottle. Nose - spirity, some chalkiness, redcurrants, burnt sugar. Palate - raisins, smoke, burnt tar (this wine was aged badly). Slight bitterness on the finish. Medium acidity. Not a good example of this wine - bottle was very old and had been poorly stored.

About 90% opaque, dark magenta. Aroma reminds me of the old Jai Alai Palace in Tijuana - a mixture of smoke and alcohol and concrete. In contrast to prior author's sentiments, this is definitely 100% ruby and I don't get any tawny comparison. Chocolate covered raisins, thick kirsch, toasted almond, and cigar smoke. Clean, if a little hot, on the finish. I mean, I expect some heat out of a fortified wine, but here it is has a slightly searing …

Tastes very much like a vintage tawny port. Hints of chocolate and only a brief whiff of raisins.
Taster #5416 · Dec 7, 2008
Pretty dark red. Figs and apples. Lots of fig flavours. Nice little dessert wine. I thought it could have been a Tawney Port.

The grapes in Batch 88 are primarily Tinta Roriz from the Madera area. The vineyard is managed to give loose bunches and a small crop. The blend is smooth and soft with a chocolate raisin character. Several different vintages are used in the blend which has an average age of about 5 years. In the port business this type of blend is called "Vintage Character."

75% tinta roriz, 25% tinta cao and tinta amarela; aged two years in wood. This has nice balance, though a touch spirity maybe. Very Good+
