Funky at first, but the barnyard blew off to reveal a pretty straight forward, yummy Syrah. You definitely feel the riper vintage; this did not have the harder edges or rustic acid/tannin one might expect from Cornas. Blackcurrants, plum, a bit of a meaty and peppery background that offers some complexity. I wouldn't hold for much longer, enjoyable now.

Dark fruit, minerality, and just the right amount of acidity to keep it lively. Perhaps a faint floral note? Enjoyed this.

This has improved significantly since the last bottle I had over 3 years ago. Complex and deep on the nose, with red berries, spices and herbs. Great balance, long and very enjoyable on the palate.

It’s interesting to see such varied responses from others. Our bottle was very nice, maybe at peak balance between fresh youth and aged development. Based on previous experience with this wine, I gave a full decant for three hours previous to drinking, decanted in a 1L carafe vs a wide-bottomed decanter. I smelled and tasted it when first opened, it was very meaty and closed. The long aeration was just right we all agreed. I wish more were available within …

Fairly light bouquet with red berries and some mineral impressions. Same on the palate, herbs, a firm amount of fresh acidity and light tannin, fairly short finish. Overall a bit meager wine.

Brought to Russ and Kate for pizza night and steak. Really liked this. Classic Syrah pepperiness with Med- acidity and Medium alcohol. Starting to really like northern rhone.

Popped and poured. Fine, thick appearance. Leaves red stains on the bowl. Looks young. Classic Cornas nose. A little sharp in the mouth (after all it is young), but still quite nice with blue and purple fruit. 5-13-16-8: 92/100.

riper style verging on shiraz, with its piercing black currant astringency, and blue fruit. black pepper, no obvious oak, but it is svelte and bitter, missing the brilliant core of acidity that I would hope for in Cornas.

Method: pop and pour (Coravin); 60ish degrees; Cab glass Look: deep ruby Nose: raspberry, bramble, faint violet, faint black pepper Palate: raspberry, boysenberry, unripe blue berry, orange; long- significantly bitter (raw cocoa? bitter herbs?), tar, dry leather; dry; medium+ body; medium+ tannins; med+ to high- citrus-like acidity Overall: Hopefully it improves with air, but what a mess right out of the bottle. The finish is pretty long, but unfortunately, I find it quite off-putting as it's significantly bitter. Other than …

Monthly Tasting Group HWS; Cornas (By JdB) : Beautiful bouquet with red and dark berries and mineral impressions. Same on the palate, firm and juicy acidity, slightly sticky tannin and some bitterness in the finish. Elegant, but one of the least impressive wines of this evening.

This producer just fits my palate. Just the right amount of garrigue, combined with lengthy dark fruit. Wonderful acidity to round it all out.

Dark rich color to the wine. The nose is unusual - my bottle isn't reductive as noted by some others, but it seems heavily smokey, oaky and brooding, with some blackberry, cranberry, and olive lurking beneath. The palate has loads of acidity and fine tannins, but the fruit is somewhat simple and hiding a bit. It will be interesting to see how this develops. 1st of 6.

This is good stuff. Good to drink now but could be benefit from a couple years. Honestly, rated way too low here on cellar tracker, as many seem to be. I consider this wine a great “in-between” wine: made some good ribeye and needed something elevated from the everyday.

Very primary, though remarkably with silky smooth tannins. It has a nose of raspberries and a slight hint of the lactic notes that I often find in young Syrah. This is not your father's Cornas: the wine is light- to medium-bodied, is fruit-forward and has none of the scratchy tannins that I associate with the appellation.

Monthly tasting club "The Tasting Club" 2022-2; Northern Rhone (@ WV) : Rustic, mineral driven bouquet with earth, spiciness and dark berries. On the palate a sweet start with ripe dark berries, good acidity and tannin, stable impressions, meaty, smoky and a good length. Really beautiful and still very youthful wine. 91+

4 hour decant. Inky purple/black; violet nose. This is a big wine. Black fruit, with notes of olive, black pepper, dried herbs and smoke. Leaning towards a rustic style, there is enough refinement to suggest a promising future. Lots of grippy tannins, and a long finish. If you have it in your cellar, i would hold off for another 3 years before popping a cork.

Checking in a year after my previous bottle. The nose has a feral quality with smoke, black and purple fruit. The palate shows blackberries, smoke and a pronounced feral note that was not evident in my previous bottle. Medium+ bodied with impressive depth and enough acidity to prevent the wine from seeming heavy. Tannins are noticeable but not poking out. The wine is developing nicely and patience will be rewarded. Punches above its price point. Held up well on day …

Pure Spirits 1st grand tasting (George Lycabetus Hotel) : The wine show high intensity, more robust, fruitier, more extrovert, spicier, more oaky, ripe to overripe fruit, tight but also more opulent and bigger In the palate, the wine shows again more opulence, tighter tannins, oak more upfront, a bit aggressive, alcohol heat, full body, long finish. Needs a bit more time than 2017

Mmmm, this is some pretty powerful stuff. Much more of a bruiser than a 2017 had a few months ago. Deep, saturated, powerful, and quite reductive. This is bloody, packed with fruit, but with a nice animal/feral undertone. Sneaky tannins. Quite ripe with more alcohol than I would expect. Sneaky and sauve tannins. Just delicious!

Pop and pour. Very funky/bretty to start, but blew off with about 30 min of air. On the nose: raspberry, crushed black pepper, a touch of garrigue/dried herbs; a little tight On the palate: excellent acidity, black raspberry, salt, a touch of olive, loads of black pepper and palate-coating tannin on the close. Much more open than these btls used to be, and shockingly drinkable for a young cornas. Day 3: open, unrefrigerated on the counter since opening. Still a …

Visually, it looks like grape juice, which it is, after all. On the nose, muted aromas of smoke, black and purple fruit and the barest hint of black pepper. The palate shows mostly smoke and blackberries, with pleasing acidity and prominent, but refined tannins. Currently in a bit of a dumb phase with the structure crowding out the fruit, even after 4+ hours of air. Best to hide for 3-5 years before revisiting.

A big, kick-ass, well-oiled wine that just oozes Syrah character. Young, but still incredibly enjoyable even now. Glass-staining purple wine. Smoky and meaty nose. Soy sauce. Big and bold in the mouth, rich, ripe, filled with black fruits. If this is the "30," what is the "60" going to be like? Long life ahead. Incredible at the price. 5-13-16-9: 93/100.

Way too young. Mega tight and doesn’t give anything away. But there is plenty of classic cornas material behind the wall. Will undoubtedly be a very good wine in 5 years time. Day 2: left in open bottle over the night. This evening much more “gentle”. Not the tannic wall of yesterday but still nowhere near the smoothness and complexity of the 2009 Granit 30 I drank a few weeks ago. Don’t go near these wines before at least 8-10 …

This is a really enjoyable Cornas, even in its youth. Some smoke and pepper on the nose along with plenty of fruit. The acidity is refreshing; and while the tannins will integrate and soften in the years to come, it's still approachable now. Given the QPR (excellent!), this would be a fun one to lay down a case of and revisit over a decade Looking forward to trying the Granit 90.

Still young and quite acidic. I should have read my previous tasting note from almost exactly one year ago before popping this bottle. Not much has happened in a year but I still think there is potential for significant improvement. Nevertheless a great nose with blackberries and some spices. Lots of dark fruit on the palate, but the acidity dominates. Quite tannic.

Not rated because it was not tasted at home (tasted at le Select Bristro, Toronto) Deep purple in colour without any sediments Aromas of gamey rasberries with smoky undertone; aromas of iron developed with an hour in decanter Supple tannin, juicy mouthfeel, moderate acidity, medium mineral-driven finish This is a modern Cornas that is enjoyable at youth, incredibly well-balanced and savoury.

Very pretty aroma with both florals and notes of meat. This is not "in your face" but it impressed me with its balance and poise. Good, ripe fruit but not over-extracted, and a great wine for food - it's light on it's feet with good acidity and would work well with many dishes.

I opened this between 1 and 2 hours ago. For Syrah, this wine has a light color, similar to a pinot noir. While it does have nice blueberry and raspberry fruit, it is not that complex, and it is missing the earthiness and minerality I usually associate with these wines along with that peppery Syrah finish. This is definitely a lighter vintage, so maybe that accounts for my disappointment.

Came upon this at a local tasting and it rocked my world! The bouquet features a side of raw, unaged beef (maybe two), peppercorns, charred earth, burnt cork, tire rubber, phenols, herbs, shallot, and an attention grabbing garlic dill aioli element. A wine of compound layers, deep earth, and gritty minerality. Medium plus to high acid and stalwart tannins provide excellent structure and balance. Again with garlic dill aioli. Wow! Bra lengde. Perfekt match til helstekt and(Fransk oppskrift med tradisjonelt tilbehør). Splashed into decanter and left for an hour or so. Immediately lovely aroma of raspberry emerged from the decanter, was a great sign! Purple color with deep, dark core. In the nose, raspberry, a bit of cherry, pepper and touch of meatiness. On the palate, velvety tannins, medium body and vibrant acidity. Lovely mid palate fruit and a long finish. Terrific wine, all balance and verve and totally approachable with a bit of air. Super stuff!
