Ashes & Diamonds Cabernet Franc No. 1

Very tasty elegant wine. Great flavor of blackberry with a hint of cherry. Nice complexity and balance. Nice lingering finish with just the right touch of tannins to give it a drying chewiness.

This is really delicious. A fair amount of oak but not distracting. Well balanced with cherry, raspberry, black tea, leather.

Followed by a A&D blanc with Thai basil curry. 100% cab franc. 13.9% abv. Nice structure. Subtle on the palate. Not much length, straight to the point. Cherry cola, strawberry, blackberry on the nose. Peppery, smoky with some plum. Great bottle from A&D and Steve Matthiasson.

Quite tasty. Mix of dark and red fruit, a little touch of something savory in there, well balanced.

Friends of mine brought this wine over. It was delicious. An amazing bottle and was tasted with a myriad of other outstanding wines. For me, it was competitive for WOTN. I will be visiting Ashes and Diamonds for certain on my next Napa trip. Really top notch Cabernet Franc and I am not a big Cab Franc fan.

Last stop on our fifth day in Napa Valley is Ashes and Diamonds located just south of Oak Knoll on St. Helena Highway. Second wine we will taste is their Cabernet Franc No. 1 which is made by Steve Matthiasson. A blend of 75% Cabernet Franc and 25% Merlot from vineyards across Yountville, Oak Knoll and Carneros.
