It was decent but very oaky, and the oak overwhelmed the good characteristics.

As soon as I smelled this I knew it was a winner! Pretty much textbook aged Rioja with dried cherry/plum, pipe tobacco, vanilla, rose petal, dried herbs. A shade high on the acidity (some will say the same on the oak, but hey, it's Rioja GR). Not an extraordinary Gran Reserva, but a classic and delicious one at a no-brainer price. Held up fine finishing on second day. I'm stocking up on this one.

Top QPR. Great for what it is and interesting to drink. Not for fruit forward lovers. This is a drying style.

One-off Costco purchase. Acidic at PNP, fruit a bit shy. Developed nicely over two hours and then again on day 2. Full-bodied - for a Rioja. More complexity than I expected, including tobacco, eucalyptus, cedar and earthy notes.

Great Rioja. Lots of oaky cedar on the nose and palate. Medium to medheavy in body. Nice fruit but not fruity. Complex mid palate and nice finish

This is the first of 4 bottles I bought. It was delicious, lots of fruit, very drinkable. Cant wait to drink bottle #2 next year.

Transparent plum purple color. Aromas of tobacco, cigar smoke, blackberry, and leather. Big mouth volume. Juicy plum and blackberry with eucalyptus, tobacco, nutmeg, and cinnamon on the finish along with a stony minerality. Beautiful fruit and bouquet. This is still somewhat surprisingly youthful, but drinking perfectly now in my opinion.

Fresh red berries, sour plums, well integrated woody and herbal notes. Long sour and herbal finish. Fine tannin and medium-plus acid. Very enjoyable Rioja, though somewhat lacking in complexity.

Very nice with grilled lamb chops. Slightly more tart than I like or I would have rated it even higher.

Wonderful, if a bit simple for a Gran Reserva. 36 months each in oak and in bottle. Definitely can get that new oak on the palate. Great QPR, but I wish as a GR this gave me a bit more.

14.5% alcohol; Hidalgo Imports, Miami, Florida; real cork with an apparent maximum wine penetration of 3 cm (in a just short of 5 cm cork); medium weight foil; Tempranillo (100%?) on the label; medium to long legs, dark purple/brown; opened and tasted at room temperature (25 degrees C) about 90 minutes later; nose of stone fruit, herbs, dry oak leaves; medium to full body, good balance among tannins, sweetness, sourness, bitterness; tasting echoed the aroma with notes of herbs and …

The cork was somewhat dry. Probably oxidized or otherwise damaged in transit.

Still alive. I agree with others that it's more leather and wood than fruit, but this is a 10 year old rioja that spent 3 years in oak. Beautiful complexity and bouquet - notes of leather, nutmeg and warm spices, lots of tobacco and there is a nice plummey black fruit going on. With time the fruit fades and stones and leather lead. I wish this was a bit more complex for a gran reserva, but for 15 bucks? Heck …

More oak and earth forward than fruit. Leather, dark chocolate, and spice. A bit too thin though. A great affordable find with bottle age at Costco. Cellaring probably won't improve this wine.

Deep ruby and purple in color. On the nose, too much oak and oak related spice mask fruit notes. The palate also shows lots of oak followed by dusty tannins and berry flavors. Disjointed wine that may not improve with time.

Meh... like my daughter said, “it reminds me of communion wine”. When I opened it it had a heavy alcohol aroma. Once it off gassed enough, I was able to detect notes of spice, pepper, berry, tobacco. I thought day 2 might be better, but it fell flat and was even more like church wine than on day 1. Bought a second bottle. While it’s not great on its own, it might make a nice Sangria, so I’ll save it …
