Waving Tree Sangiovese Estate

Seems to be a fair amount of bottle variation here. No surprise since they have a large volume of this wine in barrel and only bottle a few hundred cases at a time. This is a go to food wine for us and always over delivers for the price. Tonight, I got what I paid for. Nothing special, probably better than most $10 bottles, but lacking the spice and more sweetened dried red fruit than I like.

This is shaping up to be a great every day drinker, and possibly more. This has more earthiness and a bolder profile than previous vintages and benefits from some decanting. Cherry on the nose, and flavors of warm cranberries, cinnamon, and clove. Mid pallet the oak, leather, and forest floor takes over briefly, before a medium length juicy finish. I expect the oak will subside with a little age and the score could improve.

Solid everyday drinker with a bright cherry nose. Not as much bramble and spice as previous years, but is still closed up so it may still surprise.
