For what the wine should be, 14 years in the bottle probably longer than I should have kept this. Still, very enjoyable.

PnP. Clear, deep purple color. Very smooth, balanced/integrated, assume due to age. Better than anticpiated, typical Malbec nose/taste, nothing off. Super good value.

Really not bad for the price and a bit better now with the extra year or two of bottle age.

Deep reddish-purple. Some tannins evident, but not overpowering. Nice with a rich fatty steak. Good qpr.

Plum color with medium legs. Not much on the nose, but has a soft and smooth body. Light spice with dark fruit flavours - with a little bit of a dry comeback. Good value for the bottle!

This drank great, awesome every day wine. We had it with chicken, steak and grilled veggies.

Nice bottle for price. Surprising vibrancy on the nose. Nice spices; good fruit. Even found some sediment int he bottle. A little on the dy side, but still works well. This is one of my favourite "Tuesday night wines" that is great value.

A perfect example of a low-level Malbec. Color: Dark garnet. Aroma: Camp fire smoke, raspberry and chocolate. Tasting notes: vanilla and plums. This wine is full bodied with a silky texture.

Ripe black cherry, vanilla, chocolate, and spice. A little overextracted and hot. Lacks acidity. Medium bodied, medium tannins. Short-medium length hot finish.

Nothing amazing here but a good bottle of Malbec at an attractive price point (around $10).

Ripe plums on the nose, medium to full bodied on the palate with great fruit extract and not too much new oak. Some say to wait a while but I think these are made to be drunk young. A well made wine.

Prince Wine Store - the staff's favourite wines from 2009 tasting (Prince Wine Store - Bank Street) : What an impressive wine for the price. A smokey and spicy nose of black cherry balanced with dusty herbs. The palette is mostly cherries with a rich long finish and fine tannins.

A nut oil on the nose to me today. Palate seems a bit richer than the other day. Just fine at $9. A bit of brettiness to it?

Taster #6171 · Jan 11, 2010
Dull purple wine. A touch of brett to the nose which generally shows spice, meat and red fruit. Not terrible pronouced smell but not bad either -- say average or medium. Palate seems tight and young right now with fairly straight forward characteristics. Flavors are like nose with brett note. Developing still, needing time to show itself more.

Bad bottle? Just didn't do much for me. Beautiful purple color. Nose of dark berries and vanilla. Acidity seemed unbalanced, not much mid-palate or finish. Overall kind of weak. Tried it at 30 minutes of air, then 60 minutes, 2 hours, and 4 hours, and it improved a bit. 82-84

NSMFOW December '09--BYO Yankee Swap (The Grapevine, Salem, MA) : Purple opaque. Nose of blackberry and plum with some smoke. Palate of same with some chocolate, glycerine, tar with a bit of alcohol on the finish. Very primary wine.

Deep purple color. Nose of plum, vanilla and spice. Dark chocolate flavors with very tannic, coffee-like finish. Definitely needs some grilled beef. I'll wait a few hours to see if it opens up. To my taste, it needs a couple of years to soften, but I have a strong preference for well aged wines. Very modern style

Inky purple colour. plums and herbs right off the nose with wild berries and spice. Subtle smokey palate, jammy approach, brambly and spicy with high acid, moderate tannins, and a nice core of black plum and blackberries. Medium body at most. Appeals to most

Perhaps the only reason I didn't give this one a couple more points is that I just can't believe that a wine that I picked up for about $9 could be this good! In a few short words - Chunky, Hedonistic & Crowd-pleasing! Well worth the $...actually, worth twice that. Compares favorably to the Pascal Toso (and the Alamos, of old).

Strong and servicable malbec with grilled fare. May overwelm soft dishes. Alot of Dark fruit, coffee, spice and bean action. Green upon first pour with a little heat that softened within an hour. The white pepper was present and accounted for on the finish (shorter). Not a bad case filler.

Day 1 respi-aerate to glass. Dark cherry red color with black hues. Mild nose of undefined black fruit, charcoal, twigs, oak, and alcohol. On the palate the nondescript dark fruit is thin and dominated by charcoal, earth, vanilla, and wood. Overall, awkward and quite harsh in the mouth (76) - a big disappointment given this is typically a decent, fruity, value-minded malbec. Day 2 the nose is more expressive with fruit, baked plum and dark cherries, but there is also …

medium purple colored. some flowers and dark plums on the nose with hints of roasted coffee. medium bodied. this has dark boysenberry fruit and plums, but it has evident dusty earth, tabacco leaf and some charcoal flavors. these flavors are much more prevelant in this vintage ... i don't remember that earthy, kind of rustic quality in this wine in any other vintage. still enjoyable and always good for the price.

I opened and decanted two bottles of this wine on different nights and I was sorely disappointed. I am not placing a rating number on the wine because surely both bottles seem to have been flawed, which feels rather odd to me. What I smelled was medicinal and what my wife and I both tasted was more of the same; medicinal, harsh and thouroughly unpleasant. If I had to place a number on it, it would be close to zero.

Ruby red appearance with light purple edges. Nose of cocoa, black cherry and tobacco. Taste is plum, tobacco and black cherry. Not much tannin on the finish, with a smooth ending and medium dryness. Overall, a fruit forward wine that goes down well. Great value here.

Wakefield Liquors goes to Argentina (Store Four) : There's no sugar coating this wine. It's big and rich, maybe a little decadant, and there's not any subtlety with this wine. But the structure holds it all together. Great with a steak, or to just sit back and enjoy a big red.

Consistent with several 2007 Malbecs I've tasted. Deep purple in color with good clarity. Nose of red fruits, hints of chocolate and tobacco, perhaps a little leather. Smooth and balanced on the mouth, perhaps lacking a little acidity. Nice finish.
