Dark ruby. Ripe fruit upfront, blackberries, crushed cherries, minerals, cedar and dark chocolate. The noses emits freshness, which doesn't really follow in the palate. Medium tannins with subtle fruit and quite intense oak/chocolate notes, the fruit is in the background;the acidity is not helping that much. You mainly feel its presence very late and then drops suddenly with a bittersweet aftertaste.

Very dark almost opaq purple. Sweet and ripe nose with blackberries, intense oak (vanilla), sweet spices such as chocolate, cinnamon and clove and violets. Full-bodied, velvety-textured and nicely balanced with a long but oaky aftertaste. A good wine that is spoiled by excessive oakines, at least at this stage.

a well rounded nose full of berries and oak. fine tannins and medium body with a mid aftertaste; its a fantastic wine; well done to Avantis Estate for this Syrah (92%) - Viognier (8%)

Pretty and light with interesting floral notes and a dark berry core. Some Syrah meatiness on the edges. Gains weight with time and is now pressing against its own frame in an awkward way. Updating later : This really fleshed out nicely and displayed gorgeous Syrah fruit with a really mellow vibe. Integrated those floral and umami notes into a pretty seamless entity. A bit abrupt on the finish and a bit muted overall were small complaints. Really nice stuff. …

Medium to dark ruby-garnet. Ripe blueberries, cinnamon, berry jam, clove and sweet oak on the nose. Medium-bodied, balanced, with soft tannins, ripe fruit and a med-long aftertaste. At a nice stage to drink but will age further.

In much better shape this time. Very dark purple. Expressive nose with intense sweet oak, orange peel, blackberries, plums, violets, sweet spices and chocolate. Full-bodied with noticeable sweetness, rich fruit, soft tannins and good balance. Long aftertaste. Still quite youthful, might improve even further. The raisiny element I had noticed in my previous tastings was barely noticeable here. This is a Cote-Rotie inspired blend of 92% syrah and 8% viognier.

The wine looks ruby colored. It smells like black currant (cassis), cherry and black pepper. It tastes like black pepper, cherry and vanilla. The body is medium/full. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

Dark ruby. Sweat nose of vanilla, raisin, cinnamon and spice. Initially the raisiny and oaky elements were dominant and I thought they would never fade, but after serious aeration (in fact I left almost the whole bottle overnight in the refrigerator) it starts to reveal a much more attractive array of aromas like violets, dark berries, cinnamon and some meaty scents. Medium-bodied with firm tannins that were much softer on day 2 and balancing acidity. Medium+ aftertaste. Starts to hit …

Syrah Tasting at Avantis Estate Winery (Evia Island) : Dark ruby-purple. Initially some raisiny notes that faded after some swirling in the glass. Then, herbal and fruity aromas took hold, with intense sweet spices. Long aftertaste. Still quite primary, needs 2 to 5 years of additional bottle aging and then it might merrit a 90+ score.

Dark red ruby color. Following 45 min of decanting: Charming and complex nose with all the typical sweet spices of Syrah, pepper, cinnamon, red fruit, and a lot of herbal notes (mint and eucalyptus). Same flavors on the palate, medium body with excellent but still young tannins. Adequate acidity, very good lasting. It will certainly evolve nice the following years, and i will keep an eye on it!
