Deep red berry colour in the glass. Gave a good decant, soupy black sediment betraying the time in bottle. Nose of rubber, deep blackcurrant, dark wood and tar. Taste was surprisingly vibrant. Full mouth feel, plum and dark cherry fruits, with a sweet-tinged pepperiness. Smooth with fine length. I was pleasantly surprised it was still this good.

Mint and chocolate on the nose. Has aged nicely - fruit still present but integrated with fine grained tannins. Went well with slow roast rib of beef.

Aged well since last bottle a year ago. Very perfumy, long taste, very very nice.

8.5: Very good, but no 2002. Quality without the magic

Concentrated fruit as I would expect from a good Aussie Shiraz, yet dark, jammy, velvety, mellow, smooth, good body and drinking well still. Should go well with strong cheeses especially the blue variety.
