Domaine Roc de Chateauvieux Pinot Noir Val de Loire

Light to medium ruby color. Pretty nose of dusty mulling spices and tart wild red berries. With a couple of hours of air this got quite a bit more complex, with notes of earth and mineral; even a touch of coffee. Light bodied on the palate with racy acidity (too much for my wife) and youthful tannins. This probably needs a few years to show at its best.

Popped and Poured. Color: Lightest red wine i've seen. Nose: For lack of a better descriptor this is red licorice on top of soil. It's aromatic and pleasant. Flavor: One or two dimensional attack of sour red licorice and a dash of minerality. Light-Medium body but the flavors are pure and they do what they do well. Very acceptable $10 midweek wine.
