Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge Vieilles Vignes

Medium body but light on weight due to its acidity. Lovely red fruit on the nose. Moderate finish. Enjoyable.

Not very forward on the nose, even after an hour of breathing. On the palate, mild tannin, with fruit and subtle tea notes.

My last bottle of this lovely and vivacious drink-now Burgundy. I have nothing to add to previous notes, only that I wish I had a few more bottles.

Little to add to 1/25/13 note. Tonight more earthy nose and more minerals on the palate. Like this wine, especially for the price.

Much better than a year ago and still room to improve because the vanilla tones are a bit dominant at the moment. Still a lot of fruit and tannins left in the tank so very curious to see where it is going.

This is really nice, and a great value. Cherry and a bit of smoke on the nose, with cherry flavors continuing onto the palate. Noticeable tannins, but not unpleasant. Nice weight and acidity. Just a well made wine that will continue to improve, but is approachable now.

I can't keep my hands off this young C-M Rouge. I'll run out before it ever really starts to shine. Oh well... Clear ruby. Nose of smoke, roses, earth, and black cherry. Bright, energetic palate of sour cherry, sweet plum, anise, and vanilla. Focused acidity. Excellent length. Lovely, balanced drink-now Burg.

Decanted for two hours, decent wine but far from special. At least for the moment. Quite some tannins, a bit dry at the moment. Lightbodied and a bit short on the finish. 88 points.

I have no business opening a 2010 Burgundy. Yet, I did it anyway. light clear ruby. Nose of cherry, violet, and a trace of vanilla. Ripe medium palate of strawberry, cherry, spice, and vanilla. Excellent length. Full disclosure: my wife didn't care much for it.

Opened and poured, this wine gave a very good showing but comes across as somewhat lean on the palate. The wine should benefit from an additional year or two of bottle age.

Dark, dark ruby. Nose of cherry, earth, mushrooms, and spice. Ripe palate of cherry, strawberry, plum, licorice, spice, and vanilla. Excellent length. Refreshing acidity. Silky texture. Youthful, sweet tannins. Superb balance. Pretty good QPR for Burgundy. I'm going back for more bottles. My (future) wife and I shared a bottle of red Chassagne Montrachet in the mid 70's that primed our life-long love of wine. I can rarely resist a bottle when I see one.
