Notes after sitting in decanter for a day before I could get to it. Dark ruby hue, but only maybe 70% opaque and beautifully translucent. Profound and zippy nose of florals and fruit on a pile of moist mulch. Medium weight and intensity of flavors that are nice and round and open for business. Light tannins and a medium length finish. I think Schaffer's signature style is fully evident and it applies perfectly to this variety. The last glass on …

So much to like about this. Lovely aromatics with some floral and red berry elements. On the palate, you are greeted with a succulent core of pure fruit, with a flavor profile that reminds one of new world Pinot crossed with Gamay. After some air, the overt fruit fades a bit to reveal the acidity and tannic structure, which frames everything so nicely. Depth and length is there and this should continue to evolve for years to come, as this …

Retail $50. Very Responsible Bottle (473g; 16.7oz). Under screw cap. Larry Schaffer just started making Pinot in 2020, making this only his second vintage. Rich, bright, fruity, and tart on the palate, this is both quite tasty and complex. A lovely iteration of the …

My sister blinded this on me and a couple of other family members. I had just tasted this at the tasting room the previous day but I didn't get it -- I guessed 2022 Morgon from Beaujolais. How embarrasing. Oh well, this was great and everyone loved it.

Medium-ruby color, clear and bright. Vibrant on the nose, leading with fig & raspberry aromas, along with cracked pepper, oolong tea, fresh hibiscus and five spice. Fresh, rich red fruit flavors with a complex secondary core of tea, clove, root spices and red florals along with a hint of peppery stems. Refined and round on the palate, medium bodied, with deftly integrated acidity and fine-grained tannins, finishing with zesty length and a pleasant hint of bitterness. Recommend air/decanting to show …
