Uninspiring. Too much acidity and very subdued fruit. More of a Rosso than a Brunello. Disappointing given the magic that was the 2016 vintage. A bit better on day two but I’m not optimistic about its future.

Sweet. Still very tannic so decanting is a must. Once it has settled down then a lovely bouquet emerges with plum, herbs and spice emerge. Beautiful acidity with fine tannin accentuating fruits, sweetness and oaky notes but not overdone. A very focused finish. Drink from 2028 to 2035+.

First time with San Giorgio (ColleMassari) Brunello di Montalcino 2016 but a happy introduction to the producer. This had the warm and friendly embrace of the South side Castelnuove dell’Abate. Cherries, roses, orange, tar, cedar wood and not least mint. Nice acidity to balance what is in essence a really lovely Brunello. Not a singular wine but a very delicious Sangiovede, from Montalcino and nowhere else!

Tasted blind at Italian BYO restaurant. Note copied below" "Floral. Tight fruits but definitely darker and ripe. Maybe black cherry. Ripe cherries, little bit dusty, ripe. Has some oak too. Seems like CCR or CCRGS. Maybe Brunello. Guessing caparzo Brunello 2016. 90-91, relatively simple." This was my wine and I slow ox'd it for 7 hours. It still needed another 2 hours at dinner to shed even more fat and show some character. 91 but needs more time.

Part of a Tuscany blind tasting: "Nose of red and pink fruits with some nice florality. High tone cherries and pink flowers on the palate with great acid and tannin. The structure gives in tension and lifts the palate making this a lighter, more elegant Brunello. Really like the structure here. 93pts" Overall pretty basic but well done Brunello. Garnet color Nose of prune, smoke, oak, and floral notes Opens fresh. On the palate orange candy, currant, and sour cherry. Strong acidity and spicy tannins. Full-bodied, refreshing wine. It's a good value and I like it a lot. I'm headed to Tuscany in a few weeks, I'm looking forward to finding more of these.

3 hour decant. Figs, dried fruits and sour cherries on the nose. Tight tannins. High acidity. Medium body. Sour cherry and earthy. Medium finish. Drinks well now, but I would wait 5 years to start drinking this. Well structured but tight at the moment.

45 minutes of air. Medium garnet color; raspberry nose. Delicious, balanced and pure. Lots of dark fruit, and plenty of secondary and tertiary savory notes. Lots of tannic structure; this one has the legs to go the distance. Delicious now, I wouldn’t touch another bottle for at least another 5 years.

Fresh but full flavored Brunello.. not at all heavy but an excellent wine with the earthy tones brunello drinkers love. Accompanied our fresh tomato pasta and was perfect... opened up nicely ... will purchase again....

This is a riper version of Rosso; the fruit is sweet and it lacks the freshness and rustic notes of Sangiovese.
