Sorry this is so late in the day. We got caught off guard, not expecting this to come up today. We had some lasagna left over from the drive home from D.C. Sunday, and decided to have that for lunch, giving us a good excuse to pop the cork on the C.G. DiArie Red Blend earlier in the day than we might typically do. Two-hour decant. Inky black core, deep plum meniscus. Nose of plum, mint, sea salt and rosemary. Alcohol heat. Tart cherry, plum, beef blood, chocolate, persimmon, orange oil. Considerable salinity. Big, full-bodied mouthfeel. An intriguing, odd, eastern-California cuvée. Syrah, Primitivo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
