Lemon Creek Winery Shiraz

Brought this to a Christmas Eve party to take part in the wine tasting contest. Closed, with high levels of ink, iodine and alcohol. The fruit flavours are all but gone, and the wine feels tired and way past its prime. Used to love this wine and label, but this bottle has showed what time can do to a wine. Do finish up whatever stock you have in the inventory.

Drank this with my wine mates at New Ubin Seafood. Powerful aromatic notes of toast, ink, plums, cigar and mocca makes this one of my favourite indie labels from Barossa. At 12 years of age, the wine is slowly mellowing and presents a more gentle side. The power and energy is under restrained, with more elegance showing on the palate. Probably still in its drinking window; not sure how much longer it can last in its present stage.

I powerful given its 15.5% alcohol but boy has it softened into such a beautiful drink. Cigar box as though you were in a jazz club. Dark fruits with tannins soften and little acid. In the prime of its life, drink now or for the next 2 years, or even better, donate to me! Well done to maker Christian of Rusden fame, he would only have been a young bloke when he made this. Drank this during the Lunar New Year reunion dinner at my parents place tonight. Mature notes of red fruits, structure and body still holding up very well at eleven years of age. Loaded with dark chocolate, black coffee, vanilla and a tinge of mint makes this an interesting and complex wine. The purity of fruit is delicately balanced by the oak and alcohol. Drank this wine tonight at New Ubin Seafood with my best friend. Colour is dark purple. Wine opened with a seductive, charming nose with notes of plum, chocolate and oak. On the palate the sweetness and purity of the fruit is balanced by the chewy tannins and well integrated alcohol. This is a wine that has never failed to impress me. Probably at its mature stage right now.

Had this wine as part of my son's 4th birthday celebration. Heavily recommended by my friend and finally had a chance to get a bottle. Opened it and tried. Oh my god this is good! Very beautiful nose with a distinctive chocolate and vanilla nose. In the mouth the wine displayed notes of plums, prunes, and a nice, long spicy finish. Smooth and silky, the family finished this wine off within 15 minutes.. Truly a great wine..

Not a bad everyday drinker, but you can probably get something just as good for less $. I remember this being better when I first tasted it a few months ago, but overall it was a decent bottle. Dark red fruit dominated the palate along with alcohol and medicinal taste. More heat on the finish than I would have liked. Got better on the 2nd night.

Did not have the strong alcohol effect the other reviewer mentions but don't waste your time with this one. The flavors are overpowered by oak and there is not much complexity to this wine.

Open 30-45 minutes. The alcohol seems to be dominating this bottle. At 14.4% it's not a light weight wine, but it's coming across at the expense of aromas and flavors, which are thin and few, so much so that I really can't place any specific flavors. This is really disappointing, as it was MUCH more enjoyable at the tasting room where I purchased it. Maybe being served by the cute pour girl improved my impressions of the wine? Most likely. …
