Consumed over a couple of nights. Serviceable as usual. Don’t recall the food pairings.

Another good, solid, reliable QPR (like the Casata Monticello Nebbiolo) that paired well and provided serviceable compliment to a homemde sausage and mushroom pizza.

With beef chili. Not a great pairing ... but hey! One bottle each night.

For the price this delivers a bit of excitement, balance and proves to be a real QPR. 14% alc. With ham and mushroom over grits. Recommended.

A very pleasant surprise of a wine. It is fresh and lively. It delivers cherry and blackberry in the profile, has a round mouthfeel and a decent length. 14% alc. With pan seared then roasted pork chops. A nice match. Recommended.

Mostly grenache. Younger vines, I presume. Tart, dry, with a brief burst of promise followed by a very short finish. Worth the $6.99 I paid? Absolutely. Is it the worst wine I've had from Monstant? Perhaps. It's definitely the simplest and most lightweight. Is it still better than just about anything else at this price? "Why yes, yes it is," says my palate. 14.5% ABV

Big ripe fruit on the nose. Uninspiring on the palate. Very straight forward ripe fruits with some tobacco, which was pretty easy drinking. I enjoyed but wouldn't buy again. Returning on the 3rd day it was much better, but still had an unpleasant after taste.

Deep purple/plum color. Very jammy on the noise and young fruit. Nice tannins on the finish. Easy drinking wine, just a little flat for me.

Hmm. We're big fans of Capcanes and Montsant/Priorat in general. We know the area and the style very well. I picked this up at the grocery store with enthusiasm. It has all the early characteristics of what makes this small corner of the world great, and then... it just fizzles. The color was spot on for a grenache/carignan and the nose had some fun fruit and floral notes. It hits you with a pleasing introduction on the palate and then …

Color is Grenache purply-purple, like a grape popsicle. Slightly jammy nose of mineral, tea, cherry, raspberry. Mouthfeel is soft. Palate is restrained, crisp, but somewhat underripe strawberry, raspberry, and blackberry. Lively, tart acid makes it a good food pairing. There's also a pleasant stemmy, seedy aspect to the palate as well. I feel like I'm munching on the whole fruit, with stems and seeds. Tannins are mild and sandy, and linger a bit after the clean fruit finish. Nice table …
