Still dark ruby. Nose and particularly palate is strawberry and dusty stalks. Clear and still fresh, and beautifully integrated. A very fine wine, now and for another 2-3 years.

Clearly into the tertiary at this state with prominent earth, autumn leaves, leather and walnut. Still some solid fruit though in the form of rhubarb, cassis and some black olive. Elegant, silky tannins on the palate. Similar leather and earth from the nose alongside tar, but here the fruit is dark; hibiscus in rose syrup, figs, blackberry, black liquorice and some gentle stem ginger spice. Second bottle from this vintage, a year passed since last tasting. Enjoyed it even more this second time around. Bright, vibrant, beautiful berry notes, great expression of Otago Pinot Noir. Still a beautifully clear and gem like, ruby red wine. Marzipan, almond, lovage, maybe a touch savoury, pastry or brioche on the nose. A bright, bold palette, also slightly savoury, good acidity and some nice body. Loads of red fruit and red plum.

Unfussy classic pinot - beautiful red fruit and spice notes through on the nose. Light bodied and easily drinkable now. Bitter aftertaste on the short to medium finish

Ripe red cherry with a tiny touch of maraschino, sweet spice, clean and fruit forward. Mid palate breadth, similar fruit, fresh, pleasant.

First tasting of the vintage, still very young and full of ripe fruit, already very enjoyable. Bright, cherry red in colour, red fruits, strawberries and a touch of coconut on the nose. The initial impression is slightly spicy, some pink peppercorns. The palette is abundant with ripe red fruits, also blueberries, and mellows out to allspice and clove notes closer to the finish. The finish is soft but surprisingly long. Delicious already, looking forward to how this develops.

Beautiful dark crimson. Red berries, vanilla and spice feature prominently on the nose. The palette is light, with a soft, round mouthfeel. The red fruit carries through along with cherry, and mild touches towards the end of the fairly short finish.

Utterly fabulous: big and luscious from the velvety mouth feel to the big thick long finish. Delicious.

Char, tar, black fruits, there's no mistaking where this pinot is from. Pop 'n pour, a more aggressive style but approachable now. First half with a salmon dish, second half the night after with burgers and burgers was definitely the better match. The wine has a darker cherry coloring in the class, opaque and firm. tannins resolved, but there's structure. Black cherry leads. A pinot for cab drinkers. Plenty of time on this one.

An interesting showing, more red fruit an iron than expected. It's a firm wine, tannins present and coloring is darker than the aromas. Black cherry, but that iron impression brings more minerality to the wine than with most pinots. Served with cedar plank salmon, and the smokiness to the dish and some aromatics like roasted thyme sprigs in some of the sides were a good match. Over a one hour decant, cedar and strawberry on the nose, really fruit forward red fruits on the palate, smooth medium length finish. A very pleasing, well balanced wine, would be significantly higher if not for a permeating sulfur hint despite the decant. Drinking very well now, as the fruit is holding up very well (maybe due to the SO2?)(and the screw cap?)

Deep ruby. Somewhat closed, ripe dark cherry nose, with a hint of raisen. High acid, high fruit - sweet and sour red and dark cherry fruit with a hint of spiciness and oak. Garnet colour, no bricking, crystal clear with tart cherries, earth and cinnamon on nose. Medium mouthfeel, soft ripe tannins and a good acid balance, this opened up considerably with an hour in the glass. Slightly hot on the palate, but not enough to stop this wine from being a lovely drinker over the next 2-3 years. Well balanced and most enjoyable right now.

Needs some air to open up. Initially a bit tight on the nose and palate, with the former only showing an earthy funk. Fast fwd 20 minutes on the glass. A delicate fruit and floral combo on the nose. Medium light in overall body, but an unusual depth of fruit for a pinot of this weight. Still shows some tannins at the finish. Nice overall impression, and a decent QPR at $30.

This is why i now love screw caps. The wine still tastes young and fresh without the cork funk. Much better than i would have expected from a NZ 6+ yr Pinot Noir. Still somewhat tannic, this would pair well with pork or turkey.

Let this wine open up a little. Bright and acidic out of the bottle. Expressions of fresh red cherries, strawberry and red sweet apple blossom. Nice balance on the palate with fruit, acid and tannins. Finish has notes of spice and bitter chocolate. Beautiful color with elements of brick red characteristic of the age.

Deep but translucent ruby color with red bricking at edges showing in glass for this very mature Pinot. The nose is filled with ripened cherries, with a slight pruniness on first pour - within an hour, the nose took on more secondary aromas of barnyard hay and bacon fat. The palate develops very well as much as the nose - acids subsiding to reward with generous red fruit, roundness, and finish. Delectable!

Cherry red - no transition to brown or terracotta yet. Red fruit on the nose, strawberry, pomegranate and sour cherry, typical NZ PN nose. Silky mouthfeel, initially medium acidity, low tannins, same red fruit comes back in the palate, good balance right now, but not particularly complex. Tartness and acidity build in the medium-long finish.
