Deep Dark Purple, Black Fruits, Menthol, Leather, and a hint of (good) funk. Definitely hot, probably too much alcohol, nice tannins, strong fruits, nice balance, nice acidity. This wine improved drastically after a couple of hours, and the Robiola cheese really made it shine. SWMBO loved it and gave it a 91+, she loves big, fruit-forward wines.

Truly enjoyed this wine with a full 30 min decanting...low earthy notes developed with some fruit after time. Paired w/ lobster chiptole bisque was the kicker.

Niche Restaurant Staff Tasting (Niche Restaurant, Geneva, Illinois) : Inky garnet color. Wonderful bouquet featuring black fruit, roasted herbs and a subtle bacon quality. Full-bodied, with flavors of spice, black fruit and game. Finishes well with dark fruit and spice tones.

This Syrah is rich and balanced with heavy bacon flavors on the palate. Nice to see in a central coast syrah, very enjoyable, and a potentially perfect food pairing wine. Am very curious how the bacon fat profile was produced in a region usually heavy on extracted raspberry/spice, blackberry/dirt flavor profiles. The presence of bacon on this wine is so immense, it's almost silly to comment on any other aspect. Would love to try it next to a great Cote …
