Domaine Vincent and Sophie Morey Santenay 1er Cru Gravières

Paired with Crab Stuffed Agnolotti, Pan Seared Faroe Island Salmon and Marscapone. Wine opened up considerably after an hour, plenty of fruit on the nose and cherry lingers on the finish. We’ll save our last bottle for another year.

Superb

Off the glass list at D&J ($10). Black cherry, rose and violet notes. Cherry, mineral and currant flavors with a touch of soy underneath (likely a bottle open for a couple of days already). Very pretty; nicely balanced. Paired with Copper River salmon.

Pale garnet, starting to brick. Clean red fruit with some earth, subtle spices and florals. Nice lively acidity, and tannins are well buffed out. Not expecting anything too flashy or powerful from a Santenay, and this wine performs admirably within those expectations and serves well as an everyday burg with a meal. Drink over the next 2-3 years.
