Cantina Cenci Umbria Sanbiagio

Ripe black cherry, plum skin, and a soft note of cocoa, all edged with Umbrian earth and dried herbs. The palate is supple at first, the Merlot giving a round, dark-fruited generosity, but it quickly tightens with savory notes of iron, crushed leaf, and a gently bitter, almost walnut-skin grip through the finish. Average in quality and value if at $25.

Smells like aging Sangiovese that has some biological green character going on in it. Palate has more acidity, drive and energy but the fruit doesn't hold it up. And a bit stiff. So, it hasn't come together and its not going to come together, in my opinion. Average if not lower in quality. And in value at $25, below average.

Ripe and rich, and with some juiciness on the front palate, and then more acidity than expected on the back palate. Forceful in its acid. Maybe a little bit more natty than I would likew.
