Another strong entry for the 2nd day, from Jen's cellar. Decanted 1 hour, consumed over 4-6 more. Showing just the slightest of lightening in the glass around the edges.....black olive and herbs de Provence on the nose, chalky red/black fruit in the mouth, good weight, pleasant acidity backing it all up. Later in the evening a swirl in the glass brings out some sweeter elements like confectioner's sugar momentarily. Worchestershire notes emerge further down the line....smooth integrated tannins and a …

Wineapolooza in Atlanta; 5/21/2021-5/23/2021 (My house) : In great shape for its age and one of my favorite Cali Syrah. Plenty of dark plummy fruit, lingonberries, but also the Worcester sauce savory notes that I get from Lewis with a bit of age. Really delicious but plenty of years left to drink.

One hour decant. Very deep and bright garnet ruby color. Bbq sauce, black olive, lingonberry, plum, and Worcester sauce on the nose. Dry, velvety palate, with nice acidity. Very full tannins on the long finish. This has aged impressively. It’s not as savory as my notes make this sound. It’s really a balanced beauty.

My last bottle. This wine is still drinking in its absolute prime and can last 5+ years which is remarkable although not sure it will improve. WS review said drink by 2013, not even close to being accurate. Dark purple right to the edge of the glass And a beautiful nose of ripe black fruit with vanilla. Creamy and well balanced with well integrated tannins and a l9ng luxurious finish , almost Cab like. Underrated producer IMO

Cork fresh seeming and sound. Initial aromas of raw lumber and super jammy and hot impression. After an hour or so in the glass, the wine settled down. Still had plenty of now more expressive ripe fruit and more balance. Does not seem to be in decline, based on this bottle.

Would never know this was 16-yers old. Has a LONG way to go, although it was very pleasant to drink now.

Big, dark, concentrated and ripe. Very showy. The alcohol and fruit was in check, but the oak is still quite prominent, so this will probably be polarizing between those who like or don't mind the big oak treatment and those who do not. I tend towards the latter, but it was still enjoyable with a big prime NY steak. For me, it would be nice if they married that great fruit and concentration with less mocha/coffee/chocolate from the oak.

I thought this was was drinking great, blue and black fruits on nose. Very well integrated and softened tannins gave this wine an excellent almost silky mouth feel with ripe plum and currant flavors.

Tasty syrah! Much better integrated oak and better balanced ETOH since the bottle two years ago.

See my previous note and divide mosts of the notes in half. Half the alcohol on the nose and half the oak, while the weight and nose remained mostly the same. Still not up to my normal (Lewis cab) but much better than the last bottle.

Needs at least a 2 hour decant. I didn't and nearly burnt my nostrils from the alcohol. After letting it sit an hour in the glass, I finally could get some blueberry extract on the nose. Very heavy in the glass - almost 30W. Tar and cherries on the palate after you cut a chord of oak. I generally like the oak in a Lewis, but I have to say this was the least enjoyable bottle I have had. Maybe …

Gave this 3 hours in the decanter. Lots of sediment. Deeply thick dark purple like a Petite Sirah in the glass. Explosive expanding nose that displays a candied cherry reduction sauce, melted bittersweet chocolate, green herbal spice, tarry anise and a forest-y mix. The palate overflows with dark syrupy fruit and strong tannin yet not in any overly hot way. It seems the tannin is the perfect foil to the gooey juice. Finishes with cocoa and tart red berries lingering …

Inky appearance, tannins quite forward, fruit less so, but not in a bad way. Earthy/woodsy nose and taste with some subtle heat.

I found this wine almost undrinkable. When I tasted it upon release, it was full and lush and bursting with ultraripe fruit. However, today the fruit seems to have been replaced with a cloying sweet oakiness, and the wine seems to have collapsed from the weight of its vinous obesity. I could barely even finish a glass.

Absolutely amazing -- perfectly balanced but yet intense. Bursting with fruit but highyly structured with flavors that last for minutes in your mouth. Just love LEWIS!

Ultra-ripe blackberry and cherry aromas and flavors with tasty toasted oak and spice culminating in a long slightly hot finish.

Opened 2 hours but did not decant. One hour enough. Deep ruby colour. Blackberry & boysenberry on the palate and finish. Long boysenberry finish. Good depth and concentration. I think may be waining so drink now.

--- COLOR: Opaque purple with medium-purple rim NOTE: Scorched mesquite earth and blueberry liqueur on the nose. Barely a whiff of heat. Mouth is rich and full of deeply extracted blue and black fruits but it's completely overwhelmed by the cracked black pepper, tar and embers that also dominate the finish. Not very enjoyable, but I'm sure it's someone's cup of tea. The Hudson bottling was similar. DECANT: 1-6 hours GLASS USED: Syrah TASTE: 8.5 OTHER: COST: 77 VALUE: 0.5 …

One well make syrah. Very concentrated. Not much nose but full on the palate and a long finish. A syrah port. Delicious with or without food.

Are you kidding me -- this is what killer Syrah is suppose to taste like in my book -- a bit jammy but not like liking a fruit spoon and thick and firm with structure throughout the palate that linger for well over a minute after swallowing -- I loved it if you could not tell!
