a flaw in this wine made it taste somewhat tainted

I agree with the previous reviewers. A light bodied wine and light taste, also a minimal aroma. The oak is subdued but present enough to suggest that they augmented the wine in vinification.

light gold color in the glass. the winery describes this as a chablis-style wine, but i disagree. it does have some nice lemon, grapefruit and yellow apple flavors, but the oak does overpower it a bit. even at a low alc. content, this shows a bit of heat. the fruit's a bit thin but it's still nice for a maryland chardonnay.

A Chablis-style Chardonnay. This is a far cry from fine French Chablis, but it's considerably better, in my opinion, than the standard overly-oaky fare coming out of California. From that standpoint, this is competitive with daily-drinker California Chardonnay in the same price range.
