Eva Fricke, Schlossberg Spatlese, Rheingau

High acidity that made this lighter and less sweet than I expected for a Spatlese. Austere but still pleasant, if not memorable.

GMs South Side : 68g/l residual sugar. Floral, apple, light herbs, pear, smoky sulphur - the nose has a lot of components but they are integrated well with each other. The acidity tingles on the palate, while the sweetness is not as apparent as one might expect. Feels like this all works well as a package, would be keen to see this again in another 6-7 years.

A well made, refreshing Spatlese. Off-dry, not so sweet for a German Spatlese; 10% alcohol. Perhaps this would be a good intro to sweeter German Rieslings for those those who are used to bone dry examples from other countries.
