This was nice and unique. Dark red color. Still very youthful. Medium plus depth. Dominated by mint with some dark cherries, vanilla, and leather. Wine had layers to it adding to the complexity and uniqueness. Take this for what it’s worth, and honestly it’s not a bad thing, but I got blue cheese on the nose :)

In a really nice spot on pop-&-pour. The tannins are fully integrated so I don’t see upside to further cellaring. Drink up!

From a magnum. Decanted for 3 hours prior to consuming. Geaux Tigers note below perfectly describes our experience.

Double decant and drank after 30 min. Much better than last bottle. Bittersweet chocolate shavings, charcoal, smoke, fresh cut white flowers, blackberry liquer, dark fruits on the nose. Palate showed black fruit menagerie, with a touch of purple fruit, more bittersweet chocolate. This is a big boy still, though starting to show more tertiary earthy notes. Mrs Geaux described the wine as earthy overall. Oak and tannins completely resolved, plenty of acid to go a few more years.

Opened, poured half into a 375ml bottle and saved, and poured the balance into a decanter. Gabriel Glas stem. Dark purple color. Nose offers dark plums and cherries with a touch on mint/green herbs and licorice. Wonderful dark fruited wine with that licorice note and some dark tobacco leaves mixing in as well. Powerhouse of fruit with a savory note on the midpalate. Sufficient acidity to give the wine lift. Dense and unfurls layers on layers of fruit as the …

Pnp and not blind. Grabbed a bottle from the cellar and this is probably in a great window now for a couple of years. Any backend heat, which is in many of the "powerhouse" young napa valley wines is not there and thus this is far more approachable and drinkable now. Nose is muted, but this is clearly a fruit forward Napa on the palate. Dark ruby red in color and rounded yet heavily bodied with gravitas. Tannins are balanced …

Opened, poured and let sit about 45 min. Then: Maybe some dark fruit on the nose. Taste is darkish fruit but fainter than the 11/4/23 and 10/14/23 bottles; still heavy mouthfeel; not as much "medicinal"; finish shortish and faint; maybe just a tad out-of-balance; acidity and tannins not an issue. A fainter and less interesting version of the prior 2 bottles; not that tasty. My last bottle and waited too long. Drink now.

Double decant and started from the start. Pencil lead, earth, graphite, nose like a fine BDX, hint of bittersweet chocolate, purple fruit, lovely surface tension, the nose was otherworldly leaving me wanting for more. However . . . This was a boozy mess on the palate, still flabby even after an additional 2, 3 and 3.5 hrs of air in bottle. I think there’s fruit and other stuff on the palate, but the booziness and acid overpowers everything and I …

Opened, poured and let sit about 45 min. Then: Not much on the nose. First sip starts out with noticeable "medicinal" taste. That mostly fades over time, but always a hint of it. As noticed in prior note from 2022, sweetish, syrupy, definitely "modern". Soft mouthfeel; tannins not an issue; some warmth on the finish, along with a cloying aspect. As also noted before, no hint of cabernet profile. Drinkable as a red wine if you like the style.

Decanted for one hour. Nose of black raspberry, currant, mocha and spice. Black raspberry liquor, mocha, spice and crushed rock combine with fine tannins on the palate. Very long, layered finish. Excellent balance. Full bodied. A very elegant wine. Served with reverse seared strip steak and blue cheese, black truffle butter.

A well-crafted wine where you can taste the skill of the winemaker. Sweet licorice and baking spices dominate the nose and lead you into a sweet, decadent core of brooding dark fruits. Lengthy tannins slowly integrate on the palate with the decadent oak usage to give you a hint where this wine would go in another 5-10 years. This certainly needs a bit more time in cellar to come together - its a big wine that is not yet ready …

Mixed berries and stone fruit on the tip of the tongue. While I would say that the fruit is "chewy" it is not jammy. Mid-palate hint of unsweetened chocolate and, maybe, some minerality, I am a bit surprised that the tannin level is quite modest.

Fabulous. Very close in quality to the equally overachieving 2016 Napa Valley Cab. I give a slight nod to the 2015 today because it had a delicious, gravelly, mineral streak that elevates the complexity and gives it a more classic profile. Candidate for best cab < $100 this year so far.

Opened, poured and let sit about 40 min. Then: This bottle picks up where my earlier (9/3) 2nd glass note on 9/6 leaves off. Pretty much the same as that 2nd glass, except a bit more warmth on the finish. Sweetish, syrupy, tasty in its "modern" way, but no cab resemblance. Day 2 - uncorked and let sit about 1/2 hr. This picks up where the 9/3 note began, with acidity dominating the fruit, which has receded a bit. Stays …

Opened, poured and let sit about an hour. Then: Not much nose, maybe darkish fruit. First taste is muted darkish fruit, some tannin/astringency, but that mellows out fairly quickly. Soft mouthfeel, but there's a serious streak of acidity that almost overwhelms the fruit. Fruit seems darkish, maybe some sweetness, but as mentioned, overpowered by the acidity. At about 1 1/2 hr from opening, there almost was a sweet spot where the fruit was more prominent and acidity was more in …

Did this bottle a disservice as we pulled it from the wine cellar and attempted to start drinking while still too cool. Red fruited without too many layers showing. Very energetic (mostly due to temperature) with a lively finish. Nice but fell short of the Bard we drank alongside this -- again, I blame how I treated this bottle and didn't give it the time it needed to open up and express itself.

I liked this bottle much better than my first bottle. I'm going to pass on giving it a score, since I think my host mixed up a few bottles, and I'm not 100% sure I got 2 glasses of this, as they tasted very different. The first glass was overwhelmingly vanilla-ish. And may have been a different wine. A half hour later I poured a glass directly from this bottle and it either blossomed with air, or I had a …

I've been buying Mikes Napa since the first year, and think this may have been the best bottle to date!! This Napa Cab QPR was off the charts... and though may have caught it on its perfect / best day it was singing!! Opened and poured from a case bought at auction. Very thick, dark and full bodied. I can see some of the flabby comparisons, but this isn't over oxidized, and is a full dark brooding blue fruited cab. Modern yes, and lacking secondary's that may never develop, but certainly a fun wine and a joy to drink. Day two even fuller body, with ripe blue fruits - almost like blueberry juice. Could use just a hint more acidity. Definitely a thick, …

2 1/2 years since my last bottle and this is in a much better place. But I would still recommend giving this an hour of air at least before consuming. Dark red fruit profile. Soft mouthfeel (especially compared to the Quivet KR we drank alongside). Nice nuances and secondary flavors of vanilla with some minerality. Plenty of time on these.

This is a beautiful Double Magnum from Napa Valley. Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity. Showing black fruits with tobacco, cedar, vanilla, licorice, peppercorn, chocolates, coffee and light earth. Long finish with firm tannins. Rich and bold with a nice mouthfeel. Still young, but already delicious. This 6 year old, from the 2015 vintage, is extracted and in your face kind of wine, that needs at least 15 years in the bottle. Showing great complexity already, with a great …

Made in a hedonistic and modern style, and offering no apologies for what it is trying to be! Purple core with no sign of age. Fruit forward and outgoing bouquet, with notes of cassis, blackberry, black cherry, star anise; hints of vanilla. Medium to full bodied, with good concentration, round texture, layers of flavor, and a long and heady finish. Quite a contrast to the ‘03 Togni, which (surprisingly) my wife and mother both preferred!

from magnum- decanted in advance by another guest inky purple/red color, cassis and cherry liquer on the jammy nose, ripe berries, on the palate showing heat throughout but otherwise nice- if a bit simple, good finish, in an ocean of high dollar high extract Cabs- this needs to not show so much heat and have at least a little distinction to stand out, not a bad wine- but a relative mediocrity in a very, very crowded niche. **+, I would …

No formal notes. Brought to 6-person dinner and this was great. Great darker fruit, some spice, and graphite, all with a wonderful mouthfeel and great overall structure, and not remotely over the top or over polished. In retrospect, since the wine was finished so quickly between 6 people, I probably should've decanted for 20 - 30 minutes to really make this pop. It probably started to open up nicely at about 20 or so minutes in the glass, although it …

Deep and intense red color with a purple tint. Intense node off blue and dark red fruit, oak notes, herbs with slight green pepper undertones on the nose. Sexy and opulent on the palate, with a little bit of heat on the finish. Great wine, but Struggles to come together at this point in time. Probably needs a little bit more time to integrate all the elements. Long finish.

Dark berry fruit--blackberry, black currant--that I just love in Napa Valley Cabs. A retro-nasal herbal sensation--parsley, mint(y)--that is quite enjoyable. A big wine wine noticeable tannin that will benefit from additional years of storage.

A little disappointing on this bottle. Dark fruit extraction composed of black and blueberry fruits, black cherry, black licorice, tar and mineraliaty. Unfortunately this bottle was tight, on lockdown, tart and lacking the expressiveness l come to expect and experience with this vintage early on. In my experience, I enjoy these wines within the first 3 to 5 years of release, they just seem to show more to my liking. After that point, they seem to take a different path, …

Beautiful red fruit from the pnp......turns a shade darker over 2 hours but only to a dark red fruit, not black. It was a red raspberry to start. The mid palate is full but the ending is slightly lacking. Tannins recede and integrate over time. Nice barrel on this as well, kind of a charcoal. My last bottle and maybe the best of them yet. 4th wine of the evening and would probably rank it 4th as well mostly because it kind of got lost in the shuffle and I don't remember much about it. Was certainly a nice wine but far from memorable especially as I've recently had some really killer mid-tier 15's (Scarlett, Carter Fortuna). Probably would rate a point higher on it's own with more attention being paid it, but not sure much more than that.
