Gave this wine another try after an unimpressive bottle a few weeks ago. This bottle was much better, with plenty of ripe dark fruit, a silky texture, good complexity and sufficient remaining structure. A very nice mature village Gevrey.

Part of Thanksgiving extravaganza...Consistent with previous note with even more elegance, probably the Tory Burch among Chanel and Gucci, but still good value for money. If you want burg experience without rolling the dice. I find Rotys w 10-plus years of age as pretty consistent.

This is starting to enter the drinking window...nice, savory notes with more gevrey spice (cinnamon stick, etc.) than animale, a little mineral note along with some forest floor. Silky entry, dark berry and dark cherries flavor with good mid plate depth and medium bodied mouthfeel that lingers through to the finish.

PnP. Assertive nose of sweet cherry, clove and other baking spices, wet leaves. Rich fruit flavors of dark cherry and plum,. Some red licorice. Some oakiness astringency on a long finish. Very good. Textbook Gevrey-Chambertin in my mind. Years to go but ready now.

Had a glass of this at dinner last night. Fairly fruity with more density than I expected. Tasty. I should be buying more Gevrey-Chambertin.

On the first night, it came off almost too accessible from my expectations. Nice mid weight body and black cherry fruit, but not the earthiness and drying tannins I expected. On the second, night it was just as open for business, but with more of the minerality and some bouquet garni in the finish. I think this is a good time for it, but that it will show more of the night two elements in 3-5 years.

The color portends an older wine than 2009. The nose has this marvelous cherry flavored cigar smoke thread that wraps around a bright fruit core. The acid and tannins are light and easy. There are no harsh edges in this wine, which is a bit of a surprise as I am continuously told that Bourgogne needs more than a decade. Bottle was slightly corked. I need to stop buying old vintages, as I have run into too many corked bottles recently. Difficult to tell whether this wine has any cahoonies because it was just off enough to cover most of the story, here. A big disappointment.

Tuesday Night Double Blind $50+ (Bin 75) : Pale, very dull ruby with light rim; lush, oaky, charred oak, cola, light cherry, dense; purple fruit, plum, dark cherry, dark raspberry, oak lingers, vanilla is strong; overall assessment Burg-like but seemingly too manipulated, lower acid, sweet; it was Burg (one that I'd liked in the past) but found the characteristics in this bottle slightly off-putting.

Bottle at 3 Doors Down in Portland last night. Notes from memory. Huge umami on the nose. Smoke, minerality and a hint of roasting meat. Enjoyable, but not much subtlety. On the palate, there's silky, sweet red fruit tinged with streaks of dark fruit and earth. Structural balance with a medium finish. Very accessible and enjoyable right now, but I imagine a few years will allow the flavors to integrate and some secondary characteristics to emerge.
