This is a juggernaut of a beaujolais. On opening, it had a prune element that made me think it was overripe, but this faded after a couple of hours - I didn't decant as decanting beaujolais seems alien. This is a big wine, more of a CNP in weight and texture but a heavier CNP. 15% alcohol. Definitely improved over 24 hours. Certainly needs more time.

Yaaaaaay - only 1 more bottle to go! Quaffed this after a 2 year break. Hasn't improved in that time, and seems to have lost it's finish. Won't buy this name again, knowing how great Moulin-a-Vent can truly be. Description notes... Not worth the time. Gamay 100% 13.5% abv PS Drink The Rainbow!

Nose of red cherry and rosemarry. Smooth but spicy with a lengthy, dry straberry finish.

נפלא - בשל לגמרי לשתיה, אף צרפתי מלא ומורכב ופה מלא ומאוזן. נשתה עם בשר על הגריל, חמיצות לא אגרסיבית אבל טובה ומלא טעמים.

Medium purple colour. Nose of anise and black currant with some rosemary Dyy and smooth with some leather in the finish. A bit puckering on the tongue.

Same as before, albeit a little better on the second night. On the second night, much better mouthfeel, and fruit. Score from the second night.

PNP. Very deep dark magenta color. Cherry, raspberry, sourdough toast, lime rind, anise, and subtle pumpernickel. Smooth, dry palate, with vibrant, pixelated acidity. Firm and surprisingly full tannins on the long finish. This is my first ever Beaujoulais. It’s slightly spicy and has a more polished finish than most fine wines.

Not much change from last tasting 18 months ago. Wine is very rich and tannic for gamay. Not what I'm looking for in a Moulin-a-Vent. Paired much better with grilled steak than chicken.

I had this a few months ago and thought maybe the bottle might be a one off overly structured bear of a wine! But no. This is the biggest boldest structured tannic Beaujolais Cru I've ever experienced, and it's already a 6 year aged Gamay. There's some here who's palates enjoy the tannins. I'm not one of them. I've found several, nicely aged Moulin a Vent, can be much like a good Pinot from the Cote d'Or. This has the …

This really didn’t work for me. Very little of anything, but a generic ‘redness with alcohol’. I have really liked this cuvee from Labruyere before, so hopefully just a bad bottle.

Arômes de petites baies broyées avec des notes de garrigue et de terre. Corsé, rond et bien structuré. Texturé, fruité et riche (15% d'alcool). Finale moyenne. Atypique comme Beaujolais. Très bon ! Boire d'ici quelques années. 91+

This is a bold, deep bull’s blood, brooding wine. Not what I’d expect from a Beaujolais Gamay but even still it is a very good wine. Plush aromas of fresh blueberry, smashed red cherry, allspice and smoky black pepper. At seven years of age this wine is starting to show signs of integration but the tannins remain wild and unresolved. The long and persistent acidity keeps the wine feeling fresh. Flavours add juicy black plum, even some prune and hits …

Compared to last tasting 14 months ago, the wine has mellowed and is more recognizable as Beaujolais. Still fairly rich and powerful for Gamay but nicely balanced with acidity. Good match for spaghetti with meat sauce.

Deep purple colour. Nose of forest floor and a hint of red cherry. Bold with raspberry, blue fruits and rosemary. Chewy and a bit puckering with a medium-length, smooth finish. Still too young. A bit of tree resin in the flavour. Doesn’t taste at all like a Beaujolais.

Really compact wonderful Beaujolais. Nothing over the top but really nice blend of strawberry, bubble gum and floral notes. Has a bit of tannin on the finish and can definitely go 10 years.

Extremely dark and rich for Gamay and lacks the usual juicy fruit and acidity. Enjoyable wine but very atypical for Beaujolais (i.e. not a great match with fish). Better to drink it with red meat.

Thick, dark and rich. But very high in alcohol for Gamay, too much extraction and quite disjointed / lacking in balance. Drinks more like a California fruit-forward Syrah than a good Beaujolais.

Very deep colour. Ripe red fruit. Dry, med acid, med + tannings. Long finish. Very good wine and fantastic with medium rare T-bone. Will repeat.

15% alcohol, uh ho. Very good long cork with minimal inscription and virtually no wine penetration. Very dark colour, especially for Gamay. The nose is good and rich, if not particularly aromatic. Nothing overblown or cooked about it though. The mouth is fulfilling, with a very long finish displaying excellent acidity. Something cooked in the taste, but not in an objectionable way. No trace of oak. If I say that this bottle tastes to me like a vg Rhône wine, …
