Dark ruby. On the nose blackberries, blackcurrant, raspberries, mocha, vanilla and some oak. On the palate more of the above flavors. Also some spices and chocolate notes. Deep fruit intensity, persistent, medium complexity, well balanced. Benefits from proper aeration. In a good drinking window now. Paired well with seasonal lamb. Medium + body, medium acidity and finely integrated tannins.

I've always been a fan of this label but haven't had for a few vintages and this doesn't disappoint. Glossy plum and liqueur fruit but with real freshness. Wonderful depth and unmoved over a couple of days open. Furry tannins. Just a hair of acidity out of place to score even higher. Recommended.

Op 22 augustus 2020 schreef ik een jubelende proefnotitie over deze wijn met een score voor mij van 91 punten. Geen woord teveel gezegd, weer 91 punten. Op Moederdag 9 mei 2021 opende ik een 2e fles en ik was weer super enthousiast. De tannines waren nog even krachtig, in de neus een hint van sigarenkist en in de smaak iets van gebakken spek en geroosterde noten. Deep ruby in colour, medium intensity aromatics, morello cherries, dark plums vanilla, a little fennel and some more mature vegetal notes. Acidity is medium, the body is medium+ as is the alcohol and the tannins are medium+ mouthcoating and ripe. The flavours are of a medium+ intensity and mirror that of the aromatics but adding also some mocha, dark chocolate and nutmeg. The finish is medium+. Very good quality, with good complexity although lacking a touch of aromatic intensity.

Really spicy, lots of cinnamon, nutmeg with a background of dark fruits in liquer, the palate continues the predominantly spicy theme and adds hints of dark chocolate, a real winter warmer, tannins are abundant but fine, medium + body and alcohol with a warm spicy finish. Still needs more time.
