Mature now, but still powerful and silky. Very enjoyable.

Much much better than the previous tasting which confirmed the suspicion that earlier bottle was flawed. Aromas of ripe dark fruits with palate of savoury fruits and leather. Heavy-bodied with soft tannins

Not sure if the bottle was flawed. Honestly rather disappointed here albeit the low price point. Nose was promising with dark cherries, earth and leather. On the palate though the fleshy dark fruit flavours and spice was fleeting with iron and acid left behind. Disjointed structure and short finish.

88-89 big and extracted tempranillo which i've come to expect from Toro. front loaded with sticky dark fruit, chewy oak, and tangy barnyard. creamy full body with dusty tannins midpalate yet dry and grippy on the finish. i assume little new oak was used. the wood adds weight and texture but doesn't overwhelm the palate. lacking acid. notes of black cherry preserves, ripe blueberry, and raisins. The bretty barnyard/horse note shows itself more on the nose while the palate offers …

This is a great value wine. It opens with notes of celery, fig, cedar, oak and a peppery note. It is incredibly dark and drinks a bit heavy. There is a touch of acidity and low tannins. The finish is very lingering. For the price this is a keeper.

Dark looking wine, but it is really easy drinking. Nothing really stands out about it, it's just an all around good wine.

Saturated, very dark red violet color; dried herb, charcoal, roasted black fruit nose; tart black fruit, roast black fruit, charcoal palate; medium-plus finish (90% Tempranillo, 10% Garnacha; 14 months in French & American oak) 88+ points

A blend of Tempranillo (90%) and Garnacha (10%), aged for 14 months in French and American oak. 14,5% alcohol. Very deep, dark and only very slightly translucent black cherry color. Ripe, very concentrated and somewhat sweet-toned nose with aromas of sweet blackcurrant-driven dark fruit, some juicy strawberry, a little bit of sappy herbal character and a hint of savory oak spice. The wine is ripe, full-bodied and quite extracted on the palate with noticeable alcohol heat and concentrated, sweet-toned flavors …

With this bottle I finally have the impression that this wine is where I wanted it to be. The tannins have nicely integrated, lots of coconut on the nose, fruit is predominant, and to be honest it gives the impression that one is drinking a 5 year old wine. It just evolves much more slowly than I expected. I was right in buying this wine, but wrong in drinking 10 of my 12 bottles too early...

Second of two bottles, this wine was dark in color, funky on the nose. Dark fruit, gritty tannins, oak and hmmm, a touch of Brett on the palate. Fairly long finish. Saved a few ounces for day two, and the wine has smoothed out and the funk has dissipated a bit. OK, but I will not seek out more.

Dark ruby. Still young and relatively monolithic aromatically, all oak and alcohol and fruit with just traces of graphite. Big sweet mouthful with gentler tannins than young Prima can have. Worth the time if you have the cellar space.

Getting a bit over the hill - fruit is now dark, mushroomy but still with the tannins. Should have drunk a few years ago. Not one to age.

This is finally entering its drinking window. The harshness I found in previous bottles has mellowed, and threre's actually a good amount of fruit showing. The wine is still big, and seems a couple of years younger than it actually is. I think this will age nicely until 2020. Not bad for a 10 bottle.

I was a bit skeptical after seeing other notes, but ended up pleasantly suprised with this wine. This is drinking very well now, in good balance and restrained. Nothing over the top or excessive as I was expecting, just good fruit structure and a balanced, pleasant drinking wine. No noticable excessive alcohol.

Decanted about 4 hours before drinking. Alcohol on the nose, thick fruit that was one-dimensional. It is what it is.

Tasty. A bit of alcohol and menthol on the nose with chocolate. Deep fruited wine with considerable tannins but the fruit holds them together well. Long finish that has some tar and bitter chocolate. Big wine but tastes lively.

Lots of heft, with fruitiness, while being dry. Served with black bean soup. Has some tannins -- a bit leathery (like what we associate with a cabernet). It has some oak and some cherry, at the beginning.

This was a disappointment to me because I usually like the heavy, fruit-laden wines of Toro. Seemed to lack fruitiness and the alcohol component stood out too much.

I agree with the previous notes although it has been more than a year for some of them. I opened for a few hours before tasting. No decant. This one seems very youthful. The initial attack is acidity and jammy. I didn't detect much of a midpalate. Cherry/raspberry reduction sauce was the nose with the same on the palate. The backend was very tight and astringent. I will pick up one more of these and hold for another year to …

This needs some more time to come round. Markedly tannic and with high acidity, which gives the wine a very aggressive attack. Not instantly enjoyable at this point in time, but with a promising future. Won't open the next bottle untill 2010. Points for current drinking.

Deep dark color. This is a big tannic beast that I drank way too young. Popped and let sit in glass for 35-40 minutes. This was not nearly enough time. Got some dark fruit on the nose and palate, but it was big and hot and it was like being hit with a big club...actually did not taste much fruit when drinking. Long tannic finish that left my lips puckered. It would be very interesting to trey again in a …

Excelente. 89-90.
