Chateau Marsau, Francs-Cotes de Bordeaux

Way too acidic. Tart. Not off. Just unpleasant.

I'd never tried Marsau before and was really quite impressed. Plush, modern style with 14°, but this doesn't show too much, nor does it detract from the pleasure. Rich, dark cherry flavours with a touch of light herbs and vanilla, smooth and silky, there's a refinement and elegance that I wasn't expecting. Like many other 08s, it does taste much older than it is, not necessarily a bad thing, but it does need drinking over the next year or two.

picked this up for under $8 today, with very low expectations. The wine is really quite nice. Nice balance of fruit and acidity. Still some tannins showing. Tasty stuff, and might even improve a bit with a few more years. I'll go back tomorrow and buy a case (or two)
