Picked up a couple of bottles on auction from K&L; this was a bit underwhelming, and felt a little congested. Was hoping for more, especially as I really liked the last bottle I had five years ago.

Very solid right bank claret with earthy plums and plenty of black fruits. Perhaps a bit extracted for my palate with some woodiness in the mid-palate, but the structure is very correct and pleasant. Nothing mind blowing, but it delivers and at a good price. No rush to drink these.

Dark-fruited, ganache, structured and actually a little pencilly in its minerality. Very tannic in the mouth and not too warm, but a bit empty. OK, but not really impressive, coming across as a little over-extracted without real substance.

Wine made in amazing vintage. In the glass full ruby. In the nose chocolate, sour cherry, anise, graphite. After baked apple and black pepper. Elegant tannins, fresh in the mouth. Precise in complex texture. long, slightly balsamic finish.

Continuing to develop nicely, the wine blends layers of ripe, opulent fruits with minerality, flowers, espresso, and licorice. There is length, complexity, and lift in the waves of fruit on the palate and in the finish. Drink now, or wait and gain additional complexities. Drink from 2023-2040.

A completely different drinking experience to the bottle I opened two and a half years ago , nothing overipe or overly mature. This bottle tasted young and fresh with plenty more juice in the tank. More earthy than recent wines I’ve tasted , forest fruit , vanilla and a hint of marzipan

Opened and poured. Initial nose was...nothing! So wound tight. But then it opened up. Chalky, rose, mineral, mocha, chocolate, bright fruit. Plum. Anise. lavender. Tangy citrus? A presence of blackberry. Graphite. Had it with lamb with a mustard based sauce. Wonderful. The tanginess went away and became more soft. This wine is very good. Excellent now and will last for years. 93 for now but will only get better.

Crimson colored with slow legs. Moderate sediment in the bottle that I decanted for two hours. Upon first opening and tasting it felt a little hot, but after the period of decanting smoothed out with fine tannins, luscious raspberry and blackberry notes. Will likely smooth out further given time, but drinking well provided a long decant.

Oxidative note. Smelled and tasted of an overly evolved wine, already over the hill. Bottle variation? A bottle tasted in November 2019 was fine.
