Bottled by Biserno. 14.5% abv. (Has a boar on the label.) Dense and opaque purple in the glass. Dark fruit (dark cherries and plum) on the nose with a whiff of earth as well. Tart dark fruit on the palate. Mild spices. Paired pretty well with a broiled lamb chop and baked potato.

Leather, earthy, faint red fruit, charcoal and slightly alcoholic nose that isn't overly appealing, but the wine has nice cherry and raspberry fruit with a silky feel and nice lift from accompanied acidity. Earthy and leather flavors emerge on the finish mixing with the red fruit nicely as the wine finished medium long and only slightly dry. Good stuff, not one dimensional. Dieser Wein ist das Ergebnis des ersten gemeinsame Projektes der Antinori Brüder Ludovico und Piero - der Kellerei Campo di Sasso in Bolgherie. Diese Tatsache mag für die Familie Antonori von Bedeutung sein, für mich als Weinliebhaber ist jedoch viel erheblicher, dass der Insoglio del Cinghale ein ganz hervorragender Wein ist, welcher die typischen Merkmale der Ausnahmeregion Bolgheri trägt.

Took this to a Spaghetti Dinner at the local school. Had opened two hour earlier. Still had the vegetable on the first sip but seemed to leave quickly. Dark fruit and smooth, pairing well. There was a good long finish.

Bought as a farewell present from MCC June 2010. $94 at FWDC. Had this one fathers day 2011, I found it smooth with a bit of bite and a nice finish. I thought it was ok, with a hint of Bordeaux about it but again, nothing to rave about. John and Marian however loved it.

Decanted 1 hr. Dark brick-red core. Really simple juice here that is at times a bit elegant, but mostly it's just uninspired and monolithic. I gave this ample time to open and it never really budged. Tannins are just a touch drying, acids seem pretty low. Food didn't really make much of a difference. Even considering the $13 I paid, I know I could have done better. 14,5% abv, drink thru 2013.

Popped and poured, one tonight and one last night. Drunk during meal preparation both nights, and found quite enjoyable so do not feel it requires food. Big fruit, not too jammy--Syrah dominant, and ready to go now: Excellent value: do not think will improve much over next few years, but at this price who cares?

Wine is fantastic-but has to go with food. Medium body of red fruit, coffee, and smoke-all with a nuance of fresh herbs and subtle tannins. Decant for 1 hour, or age for two years in bottle.

Kind of the fence with this one. Nice nose of cherry, vanilla, and citrus. There are hints of mineral, coffee and tobacco, but it is dominated by a muddle of thick, jammy fruit that requires more balance and structure. Drank over several hours, and it did not much settle down after the first. Might be worth cellaring for 2 – 3 years for another sampling.

Allowed to sit opened for 2 hours. Initial taste was asparagus but it quickly dissipated, smoothed out and paired very well with our southern Italian meal.

35% Syrah, 30% CF, 30% Merlot, 5% PV. Aromas of tobacco, smoked meat/bacon, toast and cherries. Medium bodied, medium-low acid, light tannins. Light on oak, too. Nice cherry fruit upfront, then finishes heavy on olive tapenade. Mellow, earthy wine with a core of red fruit and a great herbaceous edge. Structured for near-term consumption.

My second time with this wine in the past few months, both times pretty uninspired. Muddled red and black fruits with some notes of coffee bean, anise and currant on the nose and palate. Nice nose of dark fruit & smoke wine. Disapointing on palate unbalanced. tanins, fruit & heat dominate from the syrah. Maybe this wine will improve with age 85pts and overpriced.
