This pours a slightly more youthful moderate straw yellow with a glimmer of green. The nose features quite a lot of apple cider, with poached pear, clove, a hint of pool toy, white mushroom and mixed florals. Still quite complex. The palate still has lovely elevated acid. Quite a nice wine.

Served blind 4 years since the last one and guessed AOC. Amber. Stewed apples, lanolin, round, vague hint of past acidity. Rich and alcoholic, overripe but typical for the appelation. Too old for my taste buds and anyway I prefer a fresher Chenin Blanc style.

Amber colour; unctuous mouthfeel. Dried fruit, linseed oil, cream, and stone. So weird, so great. Probably should have been drunk sooner, since it lacked fruit, but all the other, older notes were still really interesting.

I've to agree with Jason, this time palate didn't follow the nose. Profound golden colour for a fantastic performance on the nose with typical Chenin Blanc aromas of flowers and a minerality you can't deny. Tons of honey on the palate. Along with some wet straw like oxidation qualities. The nose is pretty reserved but pleasant and complex. Orange amber color announced its evolution. Deeply sugary nose of syrupy stewed apples, orange marmalade and an exotic fruit element in the background. Completely different on the palate which showed only tertiary notes: oxidized apple peels & bitter hazelnuts. Now that the novelty has worn off, I think Savennieres or at least aged Savennieres is not for me. Too much fruitcake, not enough verve, and rather hard to pair with food.

Quite different over two days. Day 1 was honeycomb, quince, lemon, flowers, and a hint of something green or earthy. Lots of acidity. Dry and tart with a good body and lingering finish. This bottle sealed the deal on a wine shop I frequented that touted it self as "natural" and "artisan" as merely selling plunk wine at high prices. This was just poorly made wine. Too high in alcohol lacking acidity and minerality. They clearly mean sec and don't use any sugar to help balance. Many of my favorite Loire producers (like Champalou) aren't afraid to allow small percentages of sugar in their secs.

Lots of unfruity stuff going on here! A tiny bit of residual sugar and a rather high viscosity (alcohol 14%) give this wine a honey-like character, but the high acidity ensures a dry, structured and fresh drinking experience. Green tea (or at least something hay-ish) and apples (some fresh, green - others rotting!). Drinking well now. Delicious, but thought provoking. Thought provoking, but delicious!

My first experience with Savennières. Golden yellow, like an Alsatian Riesling, unusual nose (to me) of hay and exotic fruits. Almost viscous but dry exotic fruit and beeswax on the palate with a great seam of acidity. Flavours linger on and on in the persistent finish.
