Domaine Lafouge Auxey-Duresses Rouge

Lovely colour. Initially a rather uninviting farmyard smell and tastes too tart. It all mellows after a couple of hours, earthy mushroom and cherry on the nose, taste is lovely crunchy pinot red fruit and a touch of cranberry, quite delicate. It's actually getting better and better as we go along, rather perfumed and softer after a couple more hours, but with a long sour cherry finish. Red fruit (cherry), nice spice, good acidity. Lingering finish. Some tannins. Needs an hour or so of air. A little closed at first. Really enjoyable.

Dark & edgy. Earth notes lean towards manure, mushroom, dark cherry, tar. Forward and classy. Tannins are a week bit chunky and it finishes with a decent amount of iron. Very nice value.
