Mckinley Springs Cabernet Sauvignon Horse Heaven Hills

Last of 2 bottles of this wine purchased at the winery last September. One of the better cab values around, especially at the club discount. Not a fruit bomb, but a nice balance of Horse Heaven Hills fruit and and subtle oak. The family that owns and operates this winery are some of the best people you will ever meet.

Decanted for 4 hours. Medium purple. Blackberry and Cherry with some floral aroma. Very full mouthfeel. Flavors of cherry, chocolate and cigar box. Nice finish of fine tannins. A very good qpr. Wouldn't mind trying other vintages.

A good wine, but nothing too interesting to warrant a higher rating. Nose of dark fruit which followed through to the palate. A bit of heat, but that settled down after about an hour. Can't recall any characteristics that stood out.

Nothing alarming or wonderful here. Some nice dark fruit on the nose and palate, but not a lot of structure to support it. Probably past its prime.
