From a Magnum. On the nose still very primary with apples and white stone fruit. On the palate good freshness and depth, slightly creamy with a long finish, everything in a perfect balance, 92+. Best bottle yet, more Côte de Beaune like than Maçonnais, good to have a Magnum left, delivers above its price level. Had the last 2 glasses on the next day, there were first tertiary notes but without any decline on the overall impression.

A tribute to a temperature controlled cellar. Most of the acidity has dropped out, darkened from its original color with a hint of oxidation. Complex and punching above its weight for a less than stellar vintage.

Delas Hermitage Masterclass with Steven Spurrier (Handford Wines, London) : On the young side but felt very pretty and definitely punches way above its fighting range. Especially compared with the 2014 ( Papies 89 albeit from magnum) this definitely felt like it has the legs to improve further. Bright, energetic, very pure wine, good acidity. Very happy wine , unpretentious and with character. 87 but very good 87.

Pale gold in color. Aromas of apple, melon, pear, vanilla and toast. On the palate medium acidity, medium body, medium finish and flavors of apple, melon, banana, vanilla, brioche, butter. Can drink now or hold another 3-5 yrs.

Very young. Clean fruit, rich but with good freshness, medium to long finish. No oak, just extract and typical Quintaine. Already quite harmonious though it will improve with further cellaring. 91-94.

A touch malformed and unstructured. Bunched aromas showing little delineation and character. Quite buttery, with notes of melon and toasty influence. A touch thin on the palate. My second experience of Vire Clesse (the other being a Bongran), and both seem to be warm Chardonnay expressions, with notable oak presence, and just lack real precision and delineation. Decent, but not particularly memorable.

Surprisingly balanced, rounded on the palate. Honey, pear, & floral notes on the palate. Light mineral notes. Acid levels are low, but still there.

Excellent. Very fresh, some apricot and a little honey. Lychee, some butter. Good weight despite no oaking (I believe).well balanced- slight acidity but also a bit of sweet fat. At under fifteen quid this was good value

Pale golden yellow. An intense nose of ripe apple, cider and quince with underlying lemon notes. In the mouth medium bodied, juicy with good extract; in character this actually reminds me more of a Chenin Blanc than a Chardonnay. Less lush and exotic than the 2010, but delicious like a lemon sherbet.

Pale lemon with an immediately vinous aroma, followed by part-ripe melon and pineapple. The palate shows red apples, pineapple, quite bold / plush notes with balanced acidity and mid length. It's a good example of Vire-Clesse, but not great value for money compared with the best villages in Macon.

Creamy, slightly smoky nose with some hazelnut. Palate was initially quite rich and honied but a more stony quality emerged with some time in the glass. It's quite a weighty and firmly structured wine (despite seeing no oak and going through 100% MF) but there's only moderate acidity (because they pick late?) and it falls away a little at the finish. La Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin (Vancouver) (Pied-á-Terre) : Rich and slightly oxidized nose of lemon, ripe apple, pear and hints of caramel. Based on the nose, this was borderline slightly prematurely oxidized, but the palate was much fresher as showed as I would expect it to. In the mouth it’s rich, viscous and almost heavy, but manages to stay fresh enough with its abundant acidity to not be considered excessively weighty. Very good.

Lots of fresh lemon juice on the palate, as well as nectarines and stone fruits, tart red apples, and a hint of orange citrus. Good balance, with plenty on minerality and hard sour citrus with a pleasant punch of acidity on the back end. Medium+ length finish ending on notes of lemons and red apples. Very good.

Stony mineral, star fruit, rubber nose. Has some vanilla/creamy oakiness that blows off almost entirely after an hour or so. Balanced palate, with juicy lemon, green apple, mineral edges, and plenty of acidity.

La Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin (Vancouver) (Les Faux Bourgeois) : Medium lemon in colour. Notes of soft lemon and tropical fruits with hints of coconut. Green-gold color. Tropical nose of pineapple, mango, lime, and wet rocks. On the palate, butterscotch, pineapple, lime, and a touch of green apple show against a medium framework of acid structure. The finish is long and full of tropical notes. Consistent with note of eight months ago. Good with tiger prawns in garlic-roasted tomatoes and feta cheese.

Green-gold color with a nose of tropical fruits (pineapple, mango, passionfruit). Palate initially is fat giving impression of buttered rocks. After some time in glass, the tropical notes erupt with pineapple and mango dominating. This wine is very ripe and it is hard to imagine it developing into something better than what it is right now. Delicious, maybe a bit better six months ago, but still very good now. For me, drink up and enjoy.
