C.V.N.E. (Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España) Rioja Asúa Crianza

Nothing special, thin, little to no tannins, easy drinking if you are learning to drink red wines. Could be a weekday wine but does not stand out as a Tempranillo wine.

Pale ruby in color. On the Nose: Medium intensity, black cherries and blackberries. On the palate: Black Fruits, Oak/wood, spice.

Warm buttery fruit on the nose. Smooth mouth feel. A little thin, and almost no tannin. Semi-dry taste, a crowd pleaser but not particularly memorable.

Tasted blind. New oak and vanilla. Cranberry sauce, tart cherries and bitter chocolate on the palate. Astringent and grainy tannins but let down by very low acid level. Wouldn’t buy again. I guessed cheap Rioja and was right.
