This was clearly past its prime, but it ended having an interesting character. With wood notes and a jerez like character.

Fruity, yet some herb flavor coming through. Drink now...on its last legs.

Had this when it was first released and thought it was vile. Was shocked when it made the WS top 100 in '14. Found a bottle collecting dust on one of my racks. Was expecting to have to dump it, but was pleasantly surprised. Decent everyday red that's probably on its last legs.

Made from Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc. Powerful and expressive bouquet. Rich and jammy but does show acidity. One-dimensional.

Bad. Light brick red, no fruit, no aroma. Knew it as soon as I poured it. Bought two from Costco so I'm hoping the other is ok. Better check it soon.

Very nice wine. Smooth with notes of dark cherry, prune, and black pepper.

Nice but - a little hot (14.5%) and the Shiraz seems to get a little lost. I'm used to this wine and this blend as a nice apperitif but the dominance of the cab makes this a better match with food.

Garnet-crimson; smoked meat, black currants, prunes, eucalyptus; gamey, pruney, berry, smoky, medium-full body, good acidity, ripe tannins, decent finish. Layered with good complexity and shiraz notes upfront. Good value.

Peter Lehman is considered a legend by some in the Barossa. Known for sticking up for what's right, and for the people and wines he believes in. He's apparently a nice guy and allegedly shows hospitality to anyone with a story to share and time to spare. This wine is named after the amiable Australian in a poem by Banjo Paterson. 58% Cab, 22% Shiraz, 20% Merlot. The 2009 vintage was rated 90 professionally; Wine Spectator I think. I'm not …

I really enjoyed this wine. It is multidimensional, with a layer of fruit on top of soft, velvety tannins.

A nice, daily drinking wine. This delivers a nice nose, with dark berries on the palate. Probably not built for the long term, but reasonably good right now.

- Brick color with medium forming legs. It's somewhat balanced and has flavours of dusty and blackberry with a medium/full body with a long finish - I find it well balanced easy to drink and quite enjoyable. Nice tannins good finish, this is as good or better than the 2009

Wine carries a distinctive metallic flavor. Light bodied, uneven balance, no finish. I popped and poured and drank; I tried several hours in the glass; I even left some in bottle for the next day. It progressively got worse and worse.

Ruby red color. Nose of plums. Refreshing, complex and very enjoyabkle taste. Very acidic but decreases with decanting. Earthy tannins, lively, drinkable. Long, deep finish. still can taste the wine after the food.

Good QPR but nothing particularly noteworthy about it. Perfect for everyday drinking. Still not quite sure how WS put this in the Top 100 of 2014, even with the strong value proposition here.

I asked my wife, "do you like this wine?" Her answer: " what is not to like? It is very pleasant, but not at all complex." I think she nailed it. Very rich with dark fruit. But no hint of anything subtle .... no herbs, earth, leather, tobacco... Nothing but dark fruit. I bought it for $15 when D&W put it on sale urge price $20). If we had liked it more I'd have bought six more before the sale …

Smooth and flavorful. Good fruit, pleasing mouthfeel, nice complexity and finish with hints of earth. Donald Hess makes a lot of very good wine at reasonable price points. Well, he doesn't actually make the wine, but he does own many of my favorite wineries.

This wine is really singing right out of the bottle with a little air. Cherry and Black Cherry notes explode from the glass. Extremely quaffable, easy to finish the bottle. Excellent QPR at $12.

On the decline but showing much of what I like in this wine.....dark fruits, solid tannins and smooth long finish. Back in the day Clancy was a solid wine, today's efforts I am not as fond of.

DTBN turned into BTBN (break that bottle night) when I was rummaging through the cellar to find a Ridge zin. Of course the way it broke, the entire bottle spilled out and all that was left was full of sediment. Couldn't even get a good taste. F!

Started dinner with Peter Lehmann Barossa Shiraz 2006. Due to a kitchen mishap, needed to pull the cork on another bottle. Decided to stay with Lehmann and chose the 2004 Clancy's. As always reliable and stood up well to grilled chicken with a blueberry chipotle sauce. Have been a fan of Clancy's for years and it has yet to disappoint.

First Night This is a fruity wine. Black fruit is dominant, plums and currants, plus some black pepper and a little tobacco. Cherries from the Merlot were more obvious on the palate, where they joined the black fruit, though the plums and currants were still dominant. Tannins were very soft, as if the Merlot were the primary fruit rather than shiraz and cab. Tobacco and white pepper showed up on the midpalate. Second Night The alcohol is a lot more …
