Retail $65. Very Heavy Bottle (708g; 24.9oz). Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara, Corvina Grossa. I have had a few of these now and while I am no expert when it comes to Amarone, this seems to be doing fairly well. Sure, there is some stewed fruit and a bit of earth on the nose--both making me pause. On the palate though, the fruit is fresher, the acidity is lively, and the depth is considerable. Yeah, this likely should have been consumed a …

Retail $65. Big Ass Bottle. Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara, Corvina Grossa. I bought six bottles of this wine way back in 2012 from CinderellaWine.com (the flash site operated by Wine Library of Gary Vaynerchuk fame), but I have not tried a bottle in a hot minute. Rich (and a bit stewed) fruit of dark cherry and black raspberry, with bits of forrest floor, anise, and just a hint of mocha. The fruit on the palate is both subdued and stewed (slightly) …

Delicious chocolate covered raisins. Smooth. Do not taste the high alcohol. Much better than when it was young. Stayed great 3 days in the fridge after opening. 92/93

Similar as my previous notes on this wine, it was drinking beautifully. The fruit is soft and delicious, and it seems to be drinking at peak. However, based on the fact that I had the last glass on day 6 after opening and it was still drinking well makes me think this isn’t about to go down hill.

I don’t drink a ton of Amarone and this is far from the top of the heap, but this is pretty stellar. Stewed and saucy with a porty-cassis nose. Rich and Port-like on the palate without the heat. Fruity and fun, not world-blowing, but a hit playing British Trivial Pursuit. thedrunkencyclist.com

As I mentioned in my last note, I do not have a ton of experience with Amarone, but I have tasted plenty, and while this is not the best I have ever tried, it is solid. Beyond Solid. A bit stewed and plenty of dark red berry fruit, some mocha, and a hint of anise. On the palate, concentrated and focused with fruit and depth. This falls just short of a Whoa.

Needs an hour to open up, but is still very young and fresh.

Italian night with friends : Dense and dark purple color. Sweet raisins, chocolate, blackberry, herbs. This is really nice and is somehow able to say in balance despite the high alcohol (which does not come through at all). Great paired with some dark chocolate as a desert.

It keeps getting better. Very smooth though high alcohol shows. Nose of dark fruit and herbs with big cherry on palate. Terrific now.

Chocolate covered cherries, blackberries, rich flavors which led to an earthy, spice filled finish. Very delicious.

Big dark fruit, menthol, high in alcohol. But overall surprisingly enjoyable.

Tonight's bottle was just "that" much better. More complexity and more layers. Long finish. Very enjoyable.

Another very nice bottle. Big black cherry fruit up front with big, mouth filling viscosity. A little raisin-y, chocolate, and some spice. Consistant with last bottle.

I do not have much experience with Amarone, but I would agree with many of the tasters here: really nice fruit, thick and rich mouthfeel. Certainly "port-like" without the sugar. Excellent. thedrunkencyclist

I'm in agreement with "IWINEREPORT" on this: "Rich and powerful, almost "port-like" offering dense black fruit reduction, raisins, chocolate and spices. Full-bodied... " But I don't agree that it's polished. I think it needs more time horizontal to soften some rough edges on the finish. Nice effort, and a very good QPR at just under $17.

At $55, this would be 90 points, but at $17, I'd say 93-94 points. So, I'm not sure how to score this. Someone must have lost money in that transaction of people buying this at $17. There's that raisiny sweetness, but it's not sweet enough to push it into sweet wine category. Tannins are refined. I find it difficult to believe that this is actually 16% alc.

Raisin, Blackberry and Chocolate. Solid but not exceptional amarone, but I almost always like amarone and this one was a bargain.... 89/90

Rich and powerful, almost "port-like" offering dense black fruit reduction, raisins, chocolate and spices. Full-bodied and polished with good length on the finish. (Best 2012-2018) - November, 2012
