M. Chapoutier, Luberon, La Ciboise Rouge

This medium-to-deep ruby wine, an unspecified blend of Grenache and Syrah, offers a nice core of wild berry and raspberry fruit, accented with licorice, lavender and savory herbs. Medium-bodied, fresh, seamlessly alcoholic (13.5%) and with soft tannins, it stays solid in the middle and closes with medium length. This represents excellent value and is one to be purchased by the case. Enjoy it through the remainder of this decade. Drink now-2020.

I have a 2011 vintage. Is it safe and good to drink in December 2017?????? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Jammy high-toned purple berry fruit with dried flowers. Crisp and juicy palate with good acid and soft tannins. Solid value.

Easy drinker. Hint of pepper on the tongue. A bit dry.

Very soft, quite drinkable, better than I expected. Grenache dominant. No oak. A pleasant, well-made, no-frills gulper.

The 2011 Côtes du Luberon La Ciboise is a great blend of Grenache Noir, & Syrah. Nice mix of red fruits. Nose of pepper and cumin Soft and silky straight through the finish. Smooth & well integrated. Very drinkable at a fair price. Love the Chapoutier wines.

Easy-drinking crushed berries with game and spice (think ground coriander seed, not black pepper). Ripe and rustic. Unnoticeable tannins, weak acidity. Not a serious wine at all. Somehow it still works. Paired well with steak tartare. (I wouldn't want a bigger wine.) A little light for duck magret. Drink now. Tasted at Blue Duck Tavern in DC.

Great value! Surprisingly full bodied and rich. Darker fruits with nice tannic backbone.

A blend of Grenache (70%), Syrah (20%), Carignan and Mourvèdre. Almost completely opaque dark cherry color with light purple hue. Quite ripe and sweet nose with aromas of succulent bilberries, sunny dark fruit and a little chocolate oak. Medium-bodied, but round and rather fruity on the palate with pretty rich flavors of ripe dark berries, peppery spice and some oaky tones of bitter dark chocolate and sweeter mocha. Rather modest on the acidity department, resulting in rather soft and mellow …

Not as smooth or well integrated as Bila-Haut but I might expect too much when Michel Chapoutier's name is on the label. Very drinkable at at fair price.
