This still needs time. Lean and tart...got better after a few hours and I could see the potential, but this amazingly was too early.

Nicely floral and high-toned. Still a bit lean and surprisingly youthful. I'd continue to age in hopes of unlocking more complexity.

Gorgeous stuff, still quite tense on the palate, it is much more expressive on the nose, this still needs a year or a few to open up. Airy and lifted on the nose: red cherry and plum, a little prune, a little leather and tobacco, so many delicate spicy tones, a distinct alpine forest element, like a stand of spruce and balsam fir are right here in the room, notes of petrichor, wild mint, fennel and pepper too... Tangy and …

With a couple of hours with air this comes good. Dark plums, tobacco, stingy tannins indicatin a long life ahead.

Unfortunately, this bottle was not preserved well. It was not corked, rather it was very acidic, almost the cork did not hold tight. That said, it would have probably been a great wine. Nice acidity, nice structure. A pity.

Cheval Blanc 1947 and company (Tøyen, Oslo) : Excellent bottle. Very floral nose. Some minty notes as well. Lovely palate, all in its place. Surprisingly mellow tannins, this is very drinkable now. Long finish with minerals and red fruits. A super buy.

Drinking terrifically. Pure, beautiful nebbiolo flavors with gossamer tannins.

Starting to get to a place where it doesn't need a ton of air to shine, but I would still recommend decanting this for a few hours. Gorgeous fruit here, red and black cherry, red plum, a little tart wild blueberry, citrus... violets and roses, licorice, mint, fresh piney alpine air.... tense and tart on the palate, the tannins are so composed, and this may well get silky in a few years. So fine and fresh, long and flavorful, intense …

Decanted 1 hour. Very perfumed. Fantastic nose of red fruit, mint, bitter orange, smokiness/forest floor, lilac. Palette: medium body, medium+ tannin, very fine; fruit on palette is a bit darker---ripe black cherry, otherwise similar notes as nose and with a high-toned graphite background. Elegant; long finish.

Light, elegant, very representative of traditional Nebbiolo characteristics (cherry, menthol, rose petals). Still young, but well made. The wine was drunk over an afternoon/evening, and while the notes became more evident with air, the wine did not add any body (not surprising considering it's youth and 12.5% ABV). An enjoyable light wine, not sure the QPR is there for my palate, but clearly a well made, traditional representation of Nebbiolo.

In a line-up of top-notch aged Barolos and Barbarescos this suffered a little bit and seemed slightly linear compared to some of the best wines. What I really loved here is the freshness and tension. Pure notes of red berries, some mint, crushed violets, cedar wood and plenty of savory spiciness. It‘s medium+ bodied, with good persistence, medium-high acidity and medium+ tannin that is good quality. Good length. This might stilll need a few more years to develop further aromatic …

- Toller Wein. Allerdings auch preislich schon anspruchsvoll. Schöne Alternative zu B/Bbs. Vielleicht mal zu Lederpastete oder Ähnlichem.

Day one: too young. Give it lots of air if you want to drink it now. With about 4 hours open, no decanting, in a big Pinot glass, it is still pretty fabulous on the nose. Perfect fresh dark cherry and black plum are prominent, with hints of red fruit and apricot coming through to support. The non-fruit elements are myriad but it is mostly about fruit today: mint, smoke, petrichor, clay, camphor, licorice, mushrooms... it is going to blossom …

The nose greets you with the full panoply of Nebbiolo flavors, truffles and flowers, but they evanesce even more quickly than one would hope. The body is a little harsh. But perhaps it would have settled down with more air, and other flavors would have emerged.

Yes, 94 for an unknown area of Piedmont. But wow, just classic nebbiolo flavors and scents. Truffles galore, roses, lilac, mushrooms, cherries, and super old-school, classic wine color/smell. I tried the '89, '90, and the newer vintages and this blew all of them out of the water. For $55/60 please buy a lot of it if you can find it.
