Drinks soft and silky, though volume is turned down a bit at this stage in life. Faint plummy dark fruit, mulled blueberry/blackberry, smoked meat, gravel, subtle white pepper/spice, green stems. Delicious, drink up as this didn’t hold up long in the glass.

One of the better Gramercy Syrahs I have had in recent memory, (I haven’t drank a ton of them FWIW) with the cool vintage allowing the fruit to carry a crisp edge to a wonderfully composed fruit core. Part of a spring COVID 6 pack, might have to seek out more.

Very good. Compared with other Gramercy wines, I find that this wine has redder fruit and more tanginess, but it still tastes fairly ripe. As per usual, the aromatic complexity and typicity are excellent -- clear animal, pepper, and olive aromas, with plenty of fruit. This is a delicate wine without much body and barely discernible tannins. I suggest drinking now.

Gramercy Cellars Syrah Walla Walla Valley Vertical Tasting (Seattle, Washington) : Clear, medium-light ruby – vanilla, rose, cinnamon, red raspberry. Medium- acid, medium- tannins, 13% ABV, medium- body, medium- finish. Very floral compared to the 2009 and 2010. Elegant. Has room to develop, but I prefer the level of fruit it has presently.

W beef enchilladas. Actually good combination. A bit lighter indeed ( medium weight) but with good fruit and structure. Difficult to identify this as a syrah but that is because of the elegance. Was very good after open for an hour. I like it better than some of reviewers, i think they like bigger and this is elegant.

I thought this Syrah was just ok. There were no special characteristics that jumped out given that many WW Valley Syrahs are big expressive, bold and meaty.

Dinner with Catherine, Taylor, Mila and Chris. Great evening with smoked pork butt. Next to the 09 (had this second). This was better as it had more body and elegance, fruit and finish. Drink now with good piece of meat.

Nose - plum, cinnamon, cocoa Mouth - savory and juicy plummy fruit, with nice coffee and char on the finish. Leans more elegant than bold. Good grippy tannins on the finish. Great balance.

Blind Dinner at Briciola (Chicago, IL) : Quite high-toned on the nose, if a bit dark-fruited at the same time. Heaps of black fruit, but this never gets jammy, but there is admittedly a touch of heat on the palate. The stems seem to show quite prominently here as well. A few of my dinnermates guessed old world syrah (I imagine they were playing the player a little bit).

Wonderfully elegant and pure. Next to two Rhone wines from the same vintages this was actually the more Old World in style, which says it all. Deep blackcurrant and black cherry fruit with lots of fresh butchers shop, violets, raw cacao, pepper, Christmas spice, and bright coffee notes. Silky and luxurious in the mouth, the tannins have that perfect feel of blotting paper, but are never drying and the acidity very moreish. The finish was long and herbaceous, almost medicinal …

Have To agree with the herd. Gramercy makes excellent syrah and this was a rare miss. Not horrible or super jammy but just a tad extracted and boring. Not much syrah-ness going on. 2011 wasn't an easy one on the west coast so perhaps it's a one off.

Somewhat disappointed, given the excellent wine I have had from Gramercy. Plum and cherry, with some spice and herb. Overall the flavors felt muted, while pleasing, nothing jumped out.

Very deep red, purple in colour. Interesting on the nose. Palate was harder because I'd been tasting pinot all night. But was smoky, Not massively impressed. Perhaps just needs more time?

Wow. Thin. Watery. Lacking depth and structure. A bit hot. Not flawed, just not good. Followed this over 5 hours and also tasted next day.
